Transcript:How to Do a Bert Slide
Hi, I'm Gregory Dwyer with azskateboarding.com at the kids that rip skateboard school in Mesa, Arizona, here with About.com. Let's learn a bert slide, it's one of the oldest tricks in the book.Attempting a Bert Slide
When doing this trick your going to need to pick where you place your hand. Once you've found that, you're going to have to rotate around your hand, like a compass, until you're directly above it. At this point you will extend your body, as far as you can, don't let your hip touch the ground and pull yourself back, right where your hand was and then follow that line.Go up, plant, push, pull. You're going to need a good amount of speed for this trick. Plant, push, pull. Go up – plant, push, pull.
Tips for Doing a Bert Slide
Keep in mind, when doing this Bert Slide – remember where you're going to plant your hand, keep rotating until you're above your hand, extend out as far as you can and pull yourself back in. Don't let your hip touch the ground, otherwise, it doesn't count.Safety Tips for Doing a Bert Slide
I would suggest that you wear safety gear until you have a few years of experience. Because a skateboard can, can slip out from under you at any time. So, helmet always, knee pads, second best, wrist guards. Thanks for watching. To learn more, visit us on the web at About.com.
