Transcript: Make a Chipboard Monogram Letter
Hi, I'm Rebecca Ludens for About.com Home and Garden. Today I'm going to show you how to add some dimension to your scrapbook pages by creating chipboard monogram letters. What is Chipboard?
Chipboard has gained popularity in scrap booking and card making. It can be found at your local craft store or on the back of a pad of paper. You can also use mat board in place of chipboard. Many frame stores and craft stores will sell their left-over pieces for just a few cents a piece.Make a Letter Template
On this scrapbook page, chipboard has been used to create the letter C in the word Carefree. To begin, select a font with simple lines that will be easy to cut out. Print out the letter and attach it temporarily to a piece of chipboard.Cut out the letter through the print out and remove the printer paper from the chipboard letter.
Create the Chipboard Letter
Adhere the letter to a piece of patterned paper and cut out again. You can remove any imperfections from the edges of your letter by lightly sanding them. The finished letter is ready to be placed on your scrapbook page.Decorate the Chipboard Letter
I embellished the C on this page with a piece of ribbon and some buttons. I attached the letter to the page using double sided foam adhesive squares to give it even more dimension.Effects of Chipboard Letters
You can make your letters even larger for more impact. The letter A gives the title extra prominence on the layout due to its size. And that's how you make chipboard monogram letters. Thanks for watching, to learn more visit us on the Web at homegarden.about.com.
