Transcript:How to Make Burning Love

Hi, I'm Diane Vogt from Storybrook Farm Bed and Breakfast in Jonesborough, Tennessee for About.com and today I'm going to show you how to make a fun dish called Burning Love.

Ingredients for Burning Love

The ingredients you will need are:

  • 4 potatoes 
  • 6 strips of bacon 
  • 1 onion coarsely chopped 
  • 1 carrot
  • fresh parsley for garnish
  • 2 tablespoons of butter 
  • 2 to 3 tbsp of milk
  • 1/2 tsp salt

How to Make Burning Love

First you will want to peel your potatoes and then cut the potatoes into fours. Put the potatoes into a pot of water, place them on the stove and cook for 30 minutes or until soft. 

Cook the bacon over medium high in a nonstick pan for about 7 to 10 minutes or until the bacon is crisp. Remove the bacon from the pan, and cook your onions in the bacon grease until browned.

Once your potatoes are nice and soft rice them into a bowl. Add the salt, butter, and milk and mash the potatoes until smooth and creamy.

Place half the mashed potatoes onto a serving plate and shape it into a volcano. Take a small spoon and make a deep hole in middle of the potatoes. Crumble the bacon, and add half of it into the pan of onions. Then pour your bacon and onion mixture down in the hole and sprinkle pieces of bacon on the outside as well. 

Grate a few pieces of carrot on top of the valcano to resemble fire and sprinkle the parsley around the edge of place for the grass. This serves 2 people.
