Transcript:Five Green Home Office Tips: Reduce WasteHi! I'm Debbie Anderson for About.com. Going green around the home doesn't just apply to your normal everyday activities; it can also be applied to your home office as well! So today, I'm going to cover five great home office tips that not only keep your home office work environment greener, but they can save you time and money as well.
Green Office Tip 1: Reuse PaperFirst, reuse misprinted or unwanted paper documents as scratch paper for making notes instead of notepads.
Green Office Tip 2: Utilize Electronic CommunicationNext, always try to use email instead of mailing paper letters or sending paper documents via a fax machine.
Green Office Tip 3: Buy Recycled ProductsHowever, when you do need to use paper for businesses purposes, always use recycled paper materials when purchasing supplies for things such as mailing envelopes.
Green Office Tip 4: Reuse PackagingNext, save package stuffing and boxes from packages you receive in the mail so you can then reuse these materials when you are preparing packages for shipping to clients or customers.
Green Office Tip 5: Recycle Ink CartridgesFinally, recycle your old printer ink cartridges when they're empty and look for office supplies stores that will give you a discount for turning in your old ink cartridges for recycling when you purchase new ink cartridges for your printer!
With these five green home office tips, you're sure to work more eco-friendly from home while improving your bottom line while doing it.
