Transcript:How to Do the WindmillHi, I'm Joey Corsica from New York Partner Dance at Rhythm Break Studios - here for About.com. Today we're going to go over the windmill. That's a power move for break dance. Let's give it a try.
Get into the Windmill PositionWe're going to start from the floor. This move is a power move coming from your footwork or from a standing position. But we're going to start today from the bottom.
Take the right leg and extend it out to the side. Take the left hand down and support the weight. You're going to take your right leg around the left, place it just on the floor, for now we keep it on the floor.
Windmill Movement and FootworkTake your right hand, drop it down underneath you, supporting your weight. You're going to take your left hand and stab it – stabbing is the most important step – down toward the floor, tucking your elbow into your body, towards your belly button.
Once again, take your left hand – drop and stab it down toward the floor, tucking it into your body supporting your weight, over your left arm, we're dropping our head down to the floor as we do this, support your weight with your left arm, draw up your head, now as you move you're going to extend the left leg and extend the right till you're in the air.
Creating Momentum in a WindmillOnce again, we're going to take that hand and stab over. This is the most important part of the windmill because it's going to create the most of your momentum. So once again, take the right leg out to the side, swing it around, support your weight, stab your left arm down, extend your left leg and your right leg.
We're going to take the left leg and dive it through to sweep just above the floor. This creates enough momentum to pull your body around. Once again, take the right leg out to the side, swing it around, drop. Place your weight on the right hand. Stab your left hand, tuck it into the elbow, extend, extend, and swing your left leg through, pulling you around.
One more time, take your right leg, pull it around, drop the right hand down, support your weight, stab with the left, extend, extend, and swing to come through. Last time, with a little more momentum. Take the right leg around, drop, step, and swing to come through.
