Hi, I am Anita Grossman Solomon. I write quilt books and I teach here at the City Quilter and across the country.

I would like to show you my tip for making a quilting device with a pair of scissors and an eight and a half inch sheet of ordinary paper.

Make the Square Template

If you ever need an eight and a half inch square template to check the sizes of your quilt work, I know how to make one without buying a specific ruler. It is a tip that we learned in elementary school. If you have an eight and a half inch sheet of paper, and you fold it so that the adjacent sides meet, you can trim along this edge. And doing so, you will get an eight and a half inch square that you can use to check your work.

And that was my tip for making a quick and easy eight and a half inch template to have at your fingertips. Thanks for watching. To learn more, visit us at About.com.
