Transcript:Pretty in Pink Makeup for PromHi! I'm Kate McCarthy with About.com and it's springtime, which means it is prom season, so today we're going to learn how to do your perfect prom makeup.
Prep Skin Before Applying MakeupSo to start, we're just going to moisturize the skin, prime it with foundation primer, and then you're going to apply your foundation. For prom, your young, you can use a tinted moisturizer and that's going to be enough coverage for the night.
And then you're going to want to conceal underneath and on top of your eyes, and conceal any other blemishes that you may have on your face. The best thing that you can do is keep everything really sheer and shimmery, and you can definitely go with some color.
Apply Prom Makeup BaseSo first we're going to start with a base, and this is a mousse eye shadow that's in a taupe color. You're just going to get it all over your eyelid. And then we're going to take more of a pink eye shadow, and we're going to put it in the crease. Now on top of that light pink I just put on, I'm going to put on a darker pink eye shadow, just on the outer corners.
Prom Makeup EyesSo now we're just going to take a taupe or a medium-brown shade, and you're going to apply it underneath your eyes. Using eye shadow for an eyeliner on your bottom lids is always better because it's not going to bleed, and it just gives a really nice, subtle shadow. So now we're going to line the top of your eye, and we're going to keep the line pretty thin and natural since you have so much going on up in your crease. Now we're just going to do some mascara.
Prom Makeup BlushAnd for blush, we're going to stick with more of a bronze shimmer and just get it on the cheeks, and also take some of the bronzer and just go down the bridge of your nose and your chin, and give your face a really nice dimension.
Prom Makeup LipsNow for lips, for prom I would just stick with a sheer-colored gloss. That way you can just keep it in your purse - you don't need to go to the bathroom to reapply an actual lipstick - you can just throw it on and you're good to go.
Prom Makeup Finishing TouchesAnd now, just to top everything off, we're going to apply a light dusting of powder. And just to add a little bit more fun, we're going to add some nice pink iridescent shimmer to the cheeks. And now she is ready to be the prom queen of this year's prom!
