Transcript:How to Curl Your Eyelashes

Hi, I'm Natasha Levitan for About.com. Today I'm going to show you how to curl your eyelashes.

Items Needed to Curl Eyelashes

The materials you will need are:
  • eyelash curler
  • blow dryer
  • rubbing alcohol
  • cotton balls

Clean the Eyelash Curler

If you have used your eyelash curler before, you need to clean it. An easy way is to dab some rubbing alcohol, also called isopropyl alcohol, on a cotton ball and rub the curler.

Before you curl your eyelashes, apply the rest of your eye makeup like eyeliner or eye shadow. And always make sure that your eyelashes are clean and dry.

Heat the Eyelash Curler

For upper volume, curl, and thickness, you should heat your eyelash curler. Plug in your blow dryer and put it on the high setting. Place the eyelash curler under the dryer for a few seconds. This warms up the curler and makes it easier to set the curl.

Curl Your Eyelashes

Open your eyelash curler by spreading the handles of the curler like scissors. Center your upper eyelash between the upper front and the silicon pad of the curler.

Position your eyelash at the base of the lash line and gently squeeze handles to close around the lashes being careful not to tag the skin. Hold it in place for a few seconds.

Eyelash Curler Tips

You should always use eyelash curler before applying mascara to prevent damage to the lashes.
