The basic tools of PowerPoint 2010 are:

This is where you create a new slide. Click on the New Slide button and then on Layout to select the arrangement of the different elements on your slide. If you want to add text to the slide, for example a title, type it inside the designated title area, choose the font you want to use, the text alignment and other layout parameters, such as Bold, Italic or even Shadow. The Insert tool allows you to import a picture from your files and resize it if you need to. You may also insert shapes or charts. You can also insert media files, such as audio and video or insert symbols to your text.

Use the Design tab to select the background. Choose a theme you like and adjust its color to your preference. With the Transitions tool you can make your slideshow more stylish by adding special effects. To hide some of the slides, click on them and select "Hide Slide." If you need to change the resolution of your slideshow, go to Resolution and choose the format and the size. Use the Review tab if you want to insert a comment or a note that only you will be able to see later on. Go to Review, click on your slide on the area you want to add your comment and click on "New Comment," write your note inside the yellow box that opens up.
