Hi, I'm Nick and today for About.com, I'm going to show you how to connect your PS3 to your TV.
PlayStation 3 is one of the most popular video game consoles in the world, so now that you've got one in your living room, you'll want to get it hooked up as soon as possible. However, there are a couple of options to consider, before you do.
Different PS3 Connection Options
The PS3 comes bundled with an AV Multi Out cable. However, for the very best in audio and video quality, you'll have to buy a HDMI cable separately. On both the original PS3 and the PS3 Slim, the connection ports are located at the back of the TV, so simply match up the slot to the cable you want to use and you're on your way. It's possible to plug in both HDMI and AV Multi Out cables into your PS3 without them conflicting, so don't worry if you want to have both!
Connecting the Console to Your Television
To connect your PS3 to your TV via AV, you'll need to locate the AV in slots on your TV, usually marked yellow, white and red. If your TV doesn't have these connections, you'll need to use an adapter, which you'll be able to plug into your TV's RGB port.
To avoid confusion – and get the best available image quality – it's best to go with HDMI. As long as your TV is HD compatible, you'll be able to plug your PS3 into your TV using a single cable.
Changing PS3 Display Settings
Remember, you can change your PS3's display settings by heading to the 'Settings' menu and selecting 'Display Settings'. If you're still having problems, make sure your TV is on the right channel – some TV's keep AV and HDMI channels separate!
