It's Thursday evening in downtown Scottsdale, Arizona. It's time for the Scottsdale ArtWalk. What Is Scottsdale's Art Walk?
The many art galleries of the Scottsdale arts district open their doors to casual visitors for two hours every Thursday evening. They've been doing this for more than 30 years. Join local residents and Valley of the Sun visitors as they wander in and out of the galleries and shops on Main Street and on Marshall Way. It's a great opportunity to see all kinds of art, in all price ranges. Whether you are shopping for a Picasso, or simply a pair of earrings, you'll fit right in. At Scottsdale ArtWalk you know that you won't be uncomfortable walking into a gallery that's way out of your price range, and you won't be pounced upon by pushy salespeople.Art Walk Tips
Find a parking spot on the street, in a public parking area or take the free trolley to the Scottsdale Arts District. There are fine restaurants and a selection of wine bars and sidewalk cafes. People watching is a popular pastime on these Thursday evenings! You'll see the greatest number of traditional galleries and people on the Main Street side, but the Marshall Way path has some unique and creative businesses to visit as well.Themed Art Walks
There are various special ArtWalks during the year, like the Summer Spectacular ArtWalk, the Wearable ArtWalk and the Western ArtWalk. During those evenings you'll experience an enhanced and themed version of the regular Thursday art walk, but with live entertainment and refreshments.A first date, a family outing, girls night out -- it's all good. There's no charge to attend Scottsdale ArtWalk. While it is somewhat subdued during the summer months because of the heat, this event is popular all year long.
