Hi, my name is Annie Grossman. I'm an animal trainer and owner of School for the Dogs in New York City and I'm in Riverdale New York at Popcorn Paws for About.com to talk about 5 great grooming products for cats.
Great Grooming Products for Cats
Cats do clean themselves but sometimes they need a little bit of help and I want to show you some things that'll really make the job a lot easier. Feline dental health is very important but cats are not gonna let you brush their teeth. This is why this is so great. You just put a little bit of this in some water - as they drink it, it removes the plaque and bacteria and really keeps their mouths healthy.
Every cat owner should have a good comb on hand for combing their cat. If you have a long-haired cat, you should be doing it every day, if you have a short-haired cat you can do it a few times in a week. This helps get their knots out, helps stimulate their skin - definitely something you must have.
I also like using a brush for tougher grooming jobs. You always wanna brush in the direction of the growth of the hair. This one is particularly nice because once it's full with hair, you can push this little button on the back and it pushes the hair out, so it's sort of self-cleaning - a really nice tool.

It's normal for your cat's eyes to get a little bit of the gunk in them but you're gonna wanna clean it out. Cats do not love water and they don't love soap. So these are really nice, they're eye wipes. You don't need to use a soap and water. You just use it to pick that stuff out of their eyes. They're really good thing to have if you have a cat in the house.
Cats sometimes get ear mites. Not a big deal. You put a couple of drops of this in each ear. Let it sit there for a few minutes. They shake their head, it comes out. And it's also useful for getting rid of ear wax. It's totally safe. It contains Aloe Vera. It's a very important thing to have on hand.
This is a cat cleansing spray. Your cat probably smells ok but if you want them to smell a little bit better, it's kinda like a feline perfume. This one's smells like grapefruit and sage, and it's a nice way to perk things up a little bit between baths.
