Hi! This is Meghan Lynn Allen for About.com, and today I'll share some signs that your house is haunted.

Feelings of Being Watched or Touched

Feelings of being watched or touched. Some people can be more sensitive to the spirit world than others, and you may feel like you're being watched or something is lurking in the shadows. The feeling of being watched could be coming from a paranormal source, especially if it continually occurs in the same place in the house, and at the same time. If you have that feeling that someone is brushing by you, taps on your shoulder, nudges you, pokes you, or just brushes your hair - it may be a ghostly sighting.

Unexplained Tastes, Touches, and Smells

Ghosts love to play around with your senses of touch, taste and smell. An unfamiliar or sudden smell in your apartment could be a sign that your house is haunted, and is often attributed to the favorite smells of a ghost when they lived in that house. You may also hear unexplained noises such as whispers and voices, footsteps, knocking or banging sounds, or scratching noises. These can be attributed to a ghost or spirit in your haunted house.

Unexplained Environmental Disturbances

In addition to sensory disturbances, there may be environmental disturbances, such as the repeated activity of lights turning on and off, or doors and cabinets opening and closing. People often report cold spots in homes and houses in haunted locations. This is a sudden drop in temperature or a noticeably cold temperature in one specific area. Some spirits like to move things when you're there, and when you're not there. When you see plates or silverware moving around, sometimes even furniture sliding across the room. Seeing is believing. Your best way to know if your house is haunted is to see in the flesh - or not so flesh - with your eyes the physical manifestation of a spirit or entity.
