Transcript:Mysterious CreaturesPlanning on being out and about in the great outdoors anytime soon? Well, before you venture into any dark woods or shadowy marshlands, you may want to familiarize yourself with a few of the world's most mysterious creatures.
BigfootBigfoot, also known as Sasquatch, Yeti, Yowie, and the Skunk Ape depending on where in the world you roam, are perhaps the most commonly sighted non-human creatures around the globe. Reported to be nearly eight feet tall, furry, and smelly, these wooded mountain dwellers generally steer clear of humans and often emit a creepy, high-pitched howl. Lots of grainy pictures and suspicious large foot molds have surfaced over the years, but to date no one has actually captured a Bigfoot, which skeptics taut as sufficient evidence of their non-existence. But hey, no one's ever captured my grandma either and I'm pretty sure she's real.
The Loch Ness MonsterTypically believed to live in the depths of the icy waters of Scotland's Lake Ness, the Loch Ness monster boasts a huge humped body with a horse-like head and a long neck. Sonar and photographic equipment have been routinely employed to capture definitive proof of this legendary creature, but so far the evidence is anything but conclusive.
Who Is Champ?Cousins of Nessie have been reported all over the globe, even in New York's Lake Champlain. And leave it to fearless New Yorkers to name their version of this scary beast: "Champ." Perhaps slightly lesser-known, this dog-headed, horse-faced, winged creature is rumored to roam the backwoods of none other than the great Garden State. Sightings of the Jersey Devil date back to the mid-18th century, when the appearance of this creature was considered to be an omen of war. Of course, modern-day sightings have been reported all the way out to the Jersey Shore and usually in nightclubs and tanning salons. Gotta love the Jers.
More Unusual CreaturesChupacabras, Mothmen, living dinosaurs, skinwalkers, and the Spring-Heeled Jack round out this list of unusual creatures reported around the globe. And with new species of animals being discovered by scientists every day, the the big question is this: do these beasties of lore really exist? Well, I'll leave that one up to you. But I will say that when you're gearing up for your outdoor adventure, be sure to protect yourself against one particular blood-sucking, flying monster: the mosquito. Because they definitely exist, and itch!
