Hi, I’m Shane Murphy, your video game Guru for About.com. Today we’ll discuss strategies for flawless teamwork in Nintendo’s New Super Mario Bros Wii.Nintendo’s latest Mario adventure is its most challenging and rewarding when you’re playing with a friend or three. But it can also be extremely frustrating if everyone isn’t working together.
Stay Together
The most important thing to remember is to stay together and move at an even pace. If one of the players is always dashing ahead or lagging behind, someone will be spending a lot of time off screen.Keep in mind that every level has a timer associated with it, so don’t move too slowly.
Avoid Sharing Platforms
Following one another from platform to platform when it’s an option usually is better than trying to sharing one. You don’t want to nudge Luigi off the edge accidently. The Stronger Player Should Go First
It’s also usually a good idea for the player with the most offensive firepower to go first and defeat koopas and the like as they approach.Don't Freak Out If Your Teammate Dies
If someone does die, don’t worry. As long as someone is still alive your fallen Italian friend will float around indefinitely. There are more ways than you think of free them too. Try Yoshi’s tongue or snowballs from farther away.
Sometimes it can be beneficial to just let them hang there while you pass through particularly treacherous gaps and obstacles. They’ll still float over to wherever you end up eventually.
Collaborate on Goals
There are plenty of interesting ways New Super Mario Bros Wii lets you collaborate to take out enemies, find secret areas, and collect items.Does that coin seem a little high? Try carefully positioning and then jumping off your teammates head to gain a little more altitude
Want to give your Yoshi mounted teammate his own projectile? Let him eat a fire or iceball to create a more powerful, fully horizontal version.
Eat Your Partner
Or just eat your partner and use him to take out enemies or propel him to special areas or hit otherwise heard to reach heightsMost enemies can be taken out by spitting your teammate, but stronger ones will only kill them. Avoid unless you’ve got malicious intent.
Use Caution With Bosses
If you’re having trouble with a certain boss, play cautiously. Have one player hang back while the other asserts himself offensively; if that player dies just hang back till you can free them from their bubble prison and then get back to it.If you want to play more aggressively, one player can draw his attention while the other gets in close to finish him off.
Follow these guidelines and you should have no problem in cooperative play for New Super Mario Bros Wii.
