Hi, I'm Don Schechter for About.com Computing. Album art is a great way to add visuals to your iTunes. Music and video you buy from the iTunes store comes with its own artwork. You can also add many popular types of still-image files including JPEG, PNG, GIF, and Photoshop.Today, I'll teach you how to utilize artwork in iTunes. First open iTunes.
Displaying Album Art in iTunes
There are two ways to display your album artwork. Go to the top of the menu where it says 'View.' The middle button will show a vertical list with the CD cover for each song. Click on the right button and the album artwork will change depending on what CD is playing.Add Album Art for Single iTunes Songs
To add artwork to one item, select an item, in your library and drag the art file to the artwork viewer located in the lower left hand corner of the screen. You can also copy and paste.Import Full Album Art to the iTunes Library
To retrieve album artwork for your entire iTunes library, go to 'Advanced,' and click 'Get Album Artwork.' If Apple has the artwork for your songs, it will automatically insert the album art regardless if you bought it through iTunes.If iTunes does not have the artwork available it will look like this.
Cancel Automatic iTunes Album Art Import
If you do not want iTunes to automatically download album artwork when you import a CD or add songs, go to 'Edit,' 'Preferences,' click the tab that says 'General,' and deselect the option to automatically download album artwork.Delete Album Art from iTunes
To delete artwork from any item, select the item, go to 'File,' 'Get Info,' click on the picture to select it and click 'delete'.
