Video:Zombieland - Emma Stone Interview, Comic Con

with Rebecca Murray

Emma Stone admits the zombies on the set of 'Zombieland' freaked her out a little bit, even though she was well aware of the fact they weren't actually the living dead. And at the 2009 San Diego Comic Con, Stone offered up the scoop on these zombies.

Emma Stone - 'Wichita' in Zombieland

Tell me about working on this and being in a world of zombies? How cool is that?

Emma Stone: "You almost can't complain. You can't complain. You'd think, it's zombies, it's scary, the world is over, but for some reason it's fun. It's really, really fun."

Now do you kick ass or do you run from them?

Emma Stone: "I kick ass."

You don't do that very often. You don't do action.

Emma Stone: "No. I'm like, 'This is a woman. This girl is a woman.' It was tough to try and nut up and play a woman, because I'm such a goof in my life. You know, these heels are way too high for me. I feel like I'm going to break my neck. But this girl is like, 'I will shoot three zombies square in the face with no fear.' So it was pretty cool to get to do that."

How long did it take you to get into that mindset?

Emma Stone: "Basically when they said action. I was like, 'Okay, now you're bad ass.' It was so silly, but it was nice to live vicariously through her for two months."

What was your favorite zombie kill?

Emma Stone: "That I got to do... I got to butt a zombie in the face with the back of my shotgun and he fell 40 feet to his death. It may have been more. It may have been like 60 or 80 feet; it was pretty intense."

How'd you guys all get along because there's really only four main actors in this, right?

Emma Stone: "Yeah."

So you guys are a team.

Emma Stone: "We all got along great, which is nice because that would have been a bummer if it's only four people and everyone's got some weird energy or something. But no, everyone was really...it was a really fun experience. It was really cool. We were all in Atlanta together. It was fun."

There's always this debate over slow moving zombies versus fast moving zombies. What do you think?

Emma Stone: "I just started hearing about this debate. Our zombies are very fast-moving. They're like velociraptors and they're alive. They just have this disease so they're not your traditional like walking dead zombie. I got to tell you, just from experience, the only experience I've had are these fast-moving ones and man they are scary. They are. When there's like 30 people dressed as bloody, horrifying zombies going like this [jerking around] and running after you, it's terrifying."

Do you forget you're acting?

Emma Stone: "You forget you're acting. You're like, 'One of them is going to snap! One of them is going to snap at any moment!' I kept saying to Ruben [Fleischer], 'I think one of them is crazy.' I was like, 'I think that one's crazy.' He said, 'They're not crazy, and if they're crazy, move them to the front because that's awesome. They're going to look even better.'"
