Are you just the new go-to action woman?Zoe Saldana: "I hope so. I really hope so. That would be an awesome thing where it's like, 'Oh, we just need a kick ass female, call Zoe Saldana.' I would love that."
All the roles you're playing are like female empowerment. That's got to be good to be getting those type of scripts.
Zoe Saldana: "I think but I don't really gravitate towards these roles for that purpose solely. To me it's just like it's a great character. And it's just a coincidence that it's actually a good, empowering female role. I don't know. Maybe I'm choosing to think about it that way because I don't want to be like narrow-minded, but for some reason I find weaknesses and strengths in all these characters. Because even though we're playing a character, it's still a human. It's still the story of an individual, and I like to play the individual and I like to be a part of the story. And I've been really blessed lately that I've had the opportunity to work with amazing directors, amazing actors, and just have a blast, you know?"
I've never read the comic book so am I going to understand the story?
Zoe Saldana: "Yes. This is an amazing movie because it has everything that can appeal to both the female demographic and to the male, and also like the young. It's hip. It's a great story. It also has very interesting political references which work for the people that wouldn't mind, but would be completely entertained by it. And for girls, besides having all those things, it has hot guys – trust me – tons of muscles. And for the boys, whatever. Just me and a gun and a pair of panties."
