Reese Witherspoon – 'Kate' in Four Christmases

Working with Vince Vaughn, he's like 6'8" and you're so short. What's that difference like on the set? Does it add something to the performance when you've got this height difference?

Reese Witherspoon: "Yeah, I had to stand on a box all the time. It was really funny. There were times where, you know, he'd always have to kneel down and I'd have to reach up. It was funny."

How easy was it for you to improv along with him?

Reese Witherspoon: "It wasn't easy the first day. I was nervous. My knees were sweating I was so nervous. He was like, 'Don't worry about it. It's going to be fine.' And then by a couple of weeks in, it became very natural for all of us. He's so giving that he makes you want to do it too, because he's so ad-lib and off-the-cuff. It's really fun."

Katy Mixon – 'Susan' in Four Christmases

You look a lot different than in the movie. How much fun was it to wear that pregnancy tummy?

Katy Mixon: "It was something else. I'll tell you what, towards the third week I was like, 'We need a massage. We need something,' so it was awesome."

I hear most of those stink. Did yours stink?

Katy Mixon: "Mine didn't stink! "

Oh, you're lucky!

Katy Mixon: "I know. I'm so lucky. They padded it brilliantly. It didn't stink at all."

And working with Jon Favreau?

Katy Mixon: "Oh, he's lovely. He is lovely. He just brings such a coolness to it all and just free-flowing . He's amazing. He's very, very kind and has a lot of grace. He's just lovely. He's awesome."

And improv – a lot of it?

Katy Mixon: "Tons of improv."

Was it fun?

Katy Mixon: "Oh, an amazing time. It was an amazing time. You've got to be ready for anything, you know? So I was just ready for anything basically."

You have a Taboo scene in the film where you're playing the game. Was that scripted or did you guys come up with that?

Katy Mixon: "You know, a lot of it was improv'd. What we did was they had the read-through, and then after the read-through that was added. The structure of it was totally what you see in the movie and everything, but we did a lot of different takes to kind of come up with a lot of different things."

What's your favorite Christmas movie outside of Four Christmases?

Katy Mixon: "A Wonderful Life. …Just because it's just giving you family. It's all about that. That's what it's all about. I come from a family of nine. The Von Trapp family singers - six girls and one boy. So I'm a big family girl."

I feel sorry for the boy.

Katy Mixon: "He's all right. He's amazing."

This director came from the world of documentaries. Was it different on the set for him because he was tackling his first feature film like this?

Katy Mixon: "You know what? This is my very first studio premiere so we kind of had a real cool connection. I think he was lovely. He handled it like a champ. He comes from the world of documentaries but he handled it brilliantly."

Why should people see this film?

Katy Mixon: "Because it's about family, it's about dysfunction. Everybody can relate to dysfunction. And it's about just the heart, the heart of what makes a family go and how you want absolute connection during the family holidays and everything, so you can learn about yourself a little bit."
