January Jones - 'Elizabeth Harris' in Unknown
When I saw the movie I didn't get the twist until the twist actually came up.January Jones: "That's the idea."
When did you get it?
January Jones: "Probably not until the end. When I first read the script, I kept thinking I knew what was going to happen but I was wrong. For me, that was like the sign of a great script, obviously. And the fact that we were able to do that, the drama did that in the movie and kept every... You know, because all the details that need to - there's never a point where like, 'How...?' You know? It was just so well done. I'm very happy with it."
You have to play someone who acknowledges her relationship with someone and then tries not to acknowledge that relationship. How difficult is it to play that line?
January Jones: "Well the character I play is...her profession is lying and so is mine and so it wasn't that hard."
Liam Neeson - 'Dr Martin Harris' in Unknown
What I thought was interesting is that I saw the movie and didn't guess the twist, and that never happens. How far into reading the script did you guess the twist?Liam Neeson: "I was pretty much near the end, I think."
Is that something that normally happens to you when you read a script like this, that you don't catch on to what's happening?
Liam Neeson: "Well, with this script I found it a real page-turner."
Playing somebody who's doing action after doing Taken, how easy is it for you to get into the action?
Liam Neeson: "Well I keep pretty fit on a daily basis, so I was kind of looking forward to it. You know, there's a lot of running and throws and spills."
Diane Kruger - 'Gina' in Unknown
So working with Liam Neeson and doing action scenes, filming out in the open and filming in Berlin, how exciting was that for you?Diane Kruger: "It was exciting but it was also very new for me. Like, I'm not used to making those kind of films. So I really looked to Liam to help me choose the right angles for cameras to make it look cool. Like I really didn't know how it worked, you know? We trained together for the fight scenes, and it's kind of like learning a dance strangely. And I was very impressed because he's 58 years old and he's 6'10" - I don't know - and he does it. He's really up to speed. I was really impressed."
Aidan Quinn - 'Martin' in Unknown
You get to fight with Liam Neeson and he's your friend in real life, how was that?Aidan Quinn: "Oh, we had a great time. It was intense. We had to train for many, many weeks. These guys that Liam knew that he worked with on Taken, they were the same group and it was phenomenal. The choreography you have to learn, you know, it was very intense. And we had a lot of laughs as well."
Unknown Producer Joel Silver
This director did two of your other films. Why take him back again?Joel Silver: "He's really good. He's a great storyteller; he works great with the actors. I just love working with him. I'm really happy with the experience. I'm really happy having him be my partner, and I'm really happy working with him."
A lot of people compare this to Taken, basically because it's Liam doing action. How does it differ from that?
Joel Silver: "It's a very different kind of movie. I mean, this is a thriller and it has a lot of mysteries in it. It has a lot of twists and turns you don't see coming. It's a real edge-of-your-seat, a real nail-biter kind of movie, and I think that it has elements of Taken but it's also very a Hitchcockian picture so I'm really proud of it."
And Logan's Run, is it going to be Ryan Gosling?
Joel Silver: "It's coming. It's happening. I hope so. It looks like it. It's close."
Because that movie's been so close for so long.
Joel Silver: "I know. We really are close now."
