Terry Crews ('Agent 91')

You're playing an agent. What's it like to be a part of a Get Smart movie?

Terry Crews: "You know what? I used to watch it growing up. I did. I'm a big fan and to sit here right now and to be a part of this franchise, believe me, it's beyond my wildest dreams."

Speaking as a fan, how does this recapture that?

Terry Crews: "Oh, totally. You know what? It was faithful to the original. I've been in other remakes of TV movies that weren't so faithful. It was kind of tongue in cheek. I'm not going to name names, but you can look on my IMDB page and see that. But it's amazing because they stayed faithful to what the essence of this whole thing is. [Hugging director Peter Segal] And my salmon suit."

They're going off about your suit.

Terry Crews: "Really it takes a man's man. I was logging wood in Iowa and then I put this suit on and flew here… Okay, that's not working, is it?"

So tell me about your character in this.

Terry Crews: "I play Agent 91. I'm a member of CONTROL. And you know what's so funny is CONTROL is a little bit like high school, so we kid Max all the time about not being an agent until he gets his shot."

That's mean.

Terry Crews: "Yeah, it's like high school. That's the whole thing – we're the agents and he's not. So we're making fun of him until he gets his chance. And again because it's Steve Carell and it's his movie, slowly the camera shifts from me to him. So it's over."

And you've got Game coming up too.

Terry Crews: "That's right. That's right, with Brian and Mark Taylor. It's going to be incredible. Gerard Butler, crazy action, crazy action. If you're a fan of Crank and the Crank series, it's going to be a whole other level. 300 meets Crank, it's going to be insane – really good."

Nate Torrence ('Lloyd')

You play a tech guy in this and in real life you just love technology.

Nate Torrence: "You know, I do but after being paired up with Masi Oka I feel so intimidated now. He's amazing. He can do about anything. I have a background in like graphic design and a little bit of website."

So you're good at computers?

Nate Torrence: "I'm okay. I'm okay, but then you ask this guy and he's all ILM. He's like Mr Supercomputer so I learned to back off. Anything I thought coming in, all the confidence I had completely melted when I heard how great he is."

How tough was it to get the buddy chemistry between you two?

Nate Torrence: "You know, we were lucky we hit it off. Also, we auditioned very early together. It was a long audition process because we knew there was going to be two projects. And so we got paired up pretty early and started feeling it pretty quickly. When they kept calling us in together, we started kind of knowing. And we had the same background. We both took classes at Second City, which is an improv and comedy school. So with that, it's nice to have the same sensibilities as far as comedy and stuff like that."

So they did tell you right away that this was also going to be a spinoff with your characters. What did you think about that?

Nate Torrence: "That made the whole audition process a lot more intense. There was big rooms, a lot of people going into it, but at the same time it made it that much more exciting to know that no matter whatever we do in this movie, there's going to be this great spinoff. And the timelines coincide so with that aspect it was really fun to get the second script and be like, 'Oh, that makes so much sense. That's why we left then and that's what we were doing.' That made it really cool."
