Bryce Dallas Howard – 'Kate Connor' in Terminator Salvation
You look gorgeous. You don't look like this in the movie. What do they make you wear in the movie?Bryce Dallas Howard: "Well the character is seven months pregnant. Yes, I had a big belly in the movie and it gave me the excuse to keep on my baby weight a little bit longer. Then after the movie was wrapped I was like, 'Okay…' McG was like throwing cookies at me during meetings. He's like, 'Don't you dare. Not yet. You need to look pregnant.'" So you're seven months pregnant, we don't see you do much fighting in this, right?
Bryce Dallas Howard: "No, it's limited. I mean there are of course it's Terminator so everyone is always in peril at some moment. But, yeah, I would say Moon [Bloodgood] really carries the torch for Linda Hamilton."
And you actually are like John's right-hand woman. You're the strength behind [John Connor]. Is that how you would describe her?
Bryce Dallas Howard: "Yeah, I would say that really what she is is she's the embodiment of the mother that he never really got to have. He had the mother that protected him fiercely, but he never got to have the mother who could be of comfort to him, and who could console him and whatnot. So yeah, that's kind of what my character is. I mean but she is also, she's very intelligent. She's a physician and because she is second in command it's crucial that she's a part of the decisions that are made for the resistance."
And how does this fit into the other Terminator movies? Is there going to be more action, less action? What are we going to see?
Bryce Dallas Howard: "More. More. I mean because those are really the expectations and if you think of it, it's only logical because if you think of what damage one Terminator did in the previous films, I mean this is now a world where there's millions of Terminators walking around. So yeah, human beings are struggling. We're struggling."
