Kristin Chenoweth (The Voice of 'Kilowatt')
You're not a chimp in this, but it's a Space Chimps movie. Didn't you want to be a chimp?
Kristin Chenoweth: "Well, I'd heard about the movie from Barry Sonnenfeld. He said, 'You have to do it and you have to do Kilowatt.' I didn't know what Kilowatt was. I read the script and I thought, 'Oh, she kind of saves the day and she's a really sweet, precious character,' and I liked it. So it's okay. You don't always have to be in the name of the movie or on the credit, you need to be your role. And it was perfect."
But she is an alien and she does have a light bulb head
Kristin Chenoweth: "She does have a light bulb head, yes."
When you saw the drawings of what your character looked like, what did you think?
Kristin Chenoweth: "I giggled. I just thought the kids would love it. And that really helped inform me how I wanted her to sound. I do have a unique speaking voice to begin with, but obviously I brought a different level for her."
Because you had to get the alien going.
Kristin Chenoweth: "Exactly."
So why should kids see this movie?
Kristin Chenoweth: "Because it's really fun. I think it also offers hope and that you can do whatever you set your mind to. And that's a very important lesson for kids to know these days."
And you're back for Pushing Daisies next year? That's one of my favorite shows.
Kristin Chenoweth: "Thank you. Mine too. We just wrapped at 6am this morning so I'm tired."
We can expect more of the same next year?
Kristin Chenoweth: "Oh yeah, and better."
Cheryl Hines (The Voice of 'Luna')
You're fearless in this a fearless monkey. How do you get into a fearless monkey character?
Cheryl Hines: "Well, I just bring out the fearless monkey within."
Is that hard to tap into?
Cheryl Hines: "No. I wear it on my sleeve."
So you were just waiting for this kind of role?
Cheryl Hines: "I was waiting for this role since I was born."
So how much fun was it to actually just do a voice of a monkey in an animated movie just for kids?
Cheryl Hines: "It was great. My daughter's here and my niece and nephews can watch it, so it's been a lot of fun."
Did you research chimps at all or did you just go with what was on the script?
Cheryl Hines: "Well, I went with what was on the script although I did look up Ham. Ham is based on a true character true chimp so I did some Wikipedia work."
What's happening with Serious Moonlight?
Cheryl Hines: "We're in post-production. We're about to wind it up and I don't know what's going to happen after that. We'll see."
Festivals?
Cheryl Hines: "Yeah, we're going to try to get it in a festival, so we'll see."
Are you pleased with the way it turned out?
Cheryl Hines: "Very. I'm very happy with the way it turned out. Very proud of it."
