Sophia Bush: "Work is good. Going back tomorrow so I'm just very excited to see the film and have a little bit of levity. After the weekend's events I think that we're all reminded how valuable entertainment can be to lift our spirits and make us laugh. I think it's important."I'm so sorry about your family's loss. That's just horrible.
Sophia Bush: "Well you know it's hard for us. I almost don't feel like I have a right to be as upset as I was all weekend because when you're talking about your family that's distant it's very hard. And it's heartbreaking because I remember...you look at your timeline and I think about how many years ago it was that her mother got married, and that was the last time that I saw everyone - at the wedding. And then hearing about the baby and thinking, 'Oh, you know, when things quiet down, when this show ends, we'll take a trip. We'll go see everyone...I'll meet my cousin I've never met.' And because someone decided that their opinion mattered more than other people's lives, I'll never get to. And it's sick and I think if things don't change, I think if the way that the news media conducts themselves and the way that we sort of exist in this culture where things are...everything around us is very violent, I think it's got to change because what happened this weekend should never happen again. It shouldn't have been able to happen in the first place."
Absolutely. What would you say to your fans to get them to change their attitudes maybe?
Sophia Bush: "I think people have to stop being bullies. It comes back to everything that we're seeing with teen suicide, with bullying in schools, with the LGBT youth community going through what they're going through. This is all symptomatic of a larger problem that people think that it's okay to scream and yell and only think that their way is right. And we exist in a society of unique and different people, and our differences are what make us special. We need to embrace them and we need to accept people for who they are, whether that's personally, politically, whatever."
