Jeffrey Tambor - Paul

So do you play into this whole Paul situation?

Jeffrey Tambor: "I play this guy named Simon and he's sort of a science fiction phenomenon/very important author, and these boys come to hit him up for advice and autographs and mentoring, and he spurns them. He's rather mean. He's pompous and an ass. How do I play such a role? I don't know. It's a real stretch for me. I always play these mean guys and I'm actually very nice. It's because I'm bald. That's what they used to do when they had a mean guy, they would cast a bald person."

Bald guys can play everything.

Jeffrey Tambor: "I think I'm lying, by the way. I think I'm not telling the truth."

Bill Hader was saying that British comedy writers write differently than American comedy writers. Do you see that?

Jeffrey Tambor: "You know, I think there's too much said about that difference between British and American. I mean, funny is funny, and I just know that these guys are funny. It's a little laid back. It's a little this way, and it's a little more you never know what's coming out of these guys' mouths anyway. They are very, very drool and very funny. What's great about them, and what I think the audiences are going to really like about them, is they have such a big heart in their comedy and in their acting. I'm very impressed with these guys. I think America - and I know this sounds like a soundbite and I don't mean to go on - but I think America's going to fall in love with them. I did. I love them. They make me laugh. And we have Sigourney Weaver in it, so we're valid. We're real. I;m on the plane today with her and I go, 'That's Sigourney Weaver.'"

You can't still be impressed after all these years of working in movies.

Jeffrey Tambor: "I am. One of the things about me I've been an actor for almost 50 years, I'm still a fan."

Are you?

Jeffrey Tambor: "Well, of Sigourney Weaver. My god, I just panted over her in Working Girl, give me a break."

She's always fabulous and it doesn't matter what she takes on.

Jeffrey Tambor: "She's really great so she makes us look really good."

Sigourney Weaver - Paul

Jeffrey was just here and he said having you in this movie validates it. How does hearing something like that feel?

Sigourney Weaver: "Oh, he's just being a gentleman. I feel the same way about his participation. Adam Shadowcraft or whatever he is. This movie to me is so meaningful because I used to be, you know for many years I was just someone who loved science fiction and adventure and fantasy, and Comic Con happened and that's where kids for a long time came. And this movie is a love letter to that kind of fan who take it so seriously and believe in it and would give their lives for it. It's an awesome movie."

What character do you play in this? Are you one of the people who chases down this alien?

Sigourney Weaver: "No. I can't really tell you what I play because it's sort of a surprise. But I do play someone quite glamourous and tricky."

How tough is it to play tricky?

Sigourney Weaver: "Depends on the script. If it's a good script and I'm supposed to be tricky... Yeah, she's a trickster. I wouldn't trust her for a second. Sinister."
