Jon Cryer - 'Dad Thompson' in Shorts
So tell me about working on this and specifically about working with Robert Rodriguez who does everything on a set.
Jon Cryer: "Well, the great thing about today is that it's an incredible simulation of how it was to shoot down in Austin in the middle of summer. It was really hot. But you know he is used to it. It was no problem for him. At any rate, working with Robert was just a blast. He has the world's largest sandbox built down there. He's got a green screen studio, a special effects house, and a costume house, and, really, that's all he needs to do whatever he wants. And it's amazing."
You're not used to working on these special effects-heavy projects, so what was this like for you?
Jon Cryer: "Normally the only special effects we have on Two and a Half Men are some of the women that we hire. But...at any rate..."
That was nice.
Jon Cryer: "That was nice. At any rate, that's really uncalled for. That was uncalled for because they're all perfectly nice."
They'll never work again on your show.
Jon Cryer: "I know. I'm in trouble. No, but I loved working on a special effects movie because I love watching special effects movies. So actually working in the green screen and doing a lot of the effects that we had to do was a great learning experience for me because they do them different than when I first started in the movies. You know, we had matte paintings and stuff. Way back in my day when we were animating King Kong with the stop-motion animation..."
It's amazing what they can do now.
Jon Cryer: "It is amazing. It absolutely is and it's a blast to be a part of it."
Devon Gearhart - 'Cole Black'
Tell me about working on it.
Devon Gearhart: "It was awesome. It was my first kids movie. Like I had never done a movie where I worked with a bunch of kids and not a lot of adults. Mostly it was just me and a bunch of adults, so that was a really cool experience."
What's Robert like as a director?
Devon Gearhart: "He's awesome. He has the biggest imagination. He could imagination the most awesome things. Like the scenes, there would be a lot of CGI in them and I'd be like, 'Oh, how's this going to work?' It would look so awesome by the end of it."
What would you wish for?
Devon Gearhart: "What would I wish for? I'd probably wish that I could fly because that would be pretty awesome."
