Betsy Russell - 'Jill' in Saw 3D
This one's finishing it up. Do you think they did everything they possibly could?Betsy Russell: "I know we have. We've done everything we could possibly do and then some. Yeah, for sure."
And in 3D.
Betsy Russell: "And in 3D. We've got body parts and a lot of awful stuff flying out at the audience."
Did it affect the way you acted?
Betsy Russell: "No, not too much. I really didn't think about that. I just, you know, was thinking about the character."
Can you believe that even after all these years the fan base for Saw just continues to grow with each movie?
Betsy Russell: "I know that the fans are amazing. I'm so grateful to be a part of it. I love the fans so it's great."
What has been over the years your favorite torture?
Betsy Russell: "My favorite torture? I really can't think of my favorite. I think they're all incredibly innovated and I don't know how they come up with them but they keep doing it so it's pretty cool."
Gina Holden - 'Joyce' in Saw 3D
I hear this one is going to wrap up things exactly how the fans want it to wrap up.Gina Holden: "I've heard that too, but I actually don't know. They don't tell me anything because they don't want me to let anything slip by accident, so I actually don't know. I hear that, but then as a fan I don't want them to end so I mean I'm kind of hoping deep down that that's not true. But you never know what they're going to do because they're so innovative."
It is really bittersweet because we've had them for so long.
Gina Holden: "Yeah, it's so bittersweet. I'm just looking forward to seeing it all cut together. It's coming out so soon I can't wait because I'm a fan too. It'll be fun."
Because it was in 3D did you have to change anything you did?
Gina Holden: "No, not at all. The cameras are terrific. They're really interesting and it's shot a tiny bit different, but no, I didn't have to change anything about me. But just a little bit of the camera guys and the crew, that's a little bit different so it was interesting to experience that. But I had it easy. I just had to do my job."
[At this point a big moth flies up and freaks us out] You're being attacked! Okay, it's gone. It went that way. Oh, there it is!
Gina Holden: "Oh my god! This is the SCREAM Awards!"
I can't believe you're in Saw and you're scared of a moth.
Gina Holden: "I know. I'm terrified. Okay, go figure, right? Everybody always asks me, 'What are you afraid of?' And I'm like, 'Oh no, nothing.' No, moths terrify me. If you put me in a movie with moths I will actually have a heart attack. No acting."
So that would be the perfect torture in a Saw movie.
Gina Holden: "Totally, totally. Now that that's out I'm probably going to get, 'Well, it's about moths attacking you...' But knowing me I'd probably do it just to experience it. But yeah they terrify me."
Are you a huge fan of the genre?
Gina Holden: "Yes, I am. I really am. I don't know, looking at me maybe you wouldn't think so but I love it. I love it. My big brother kind of got me hooked young, so he raised me right."
Saw 3D Director Kevin Greutert
What's it like to wind down the series?Kevin Greutert: "Bittersweet, sometimes a lot more bitter than sweet. I'm looking for some sweet, hopefully. I don't mean that money-wise, but like a humming bird I'm attracted to the flowers. But it's interesting. Saw has gone on for a long time and it's been a big part of my life for the last seven years. Saw took me from being an assistant editor to being an editor in the film industry to finally being a director and I really appreciate that. I'm just very glad to have been a part of something that meant a lot to a lot of people."
The decision to go with 3D, was that there at the end of the last Saw movie?
Kevin Greutert: "You know what? There was a desire to go 3D with Saw 6 but we just really didn't have the means to do it at the time. So by the time we got to Saw 7, the idea was to make it 3D from the beginning."
Is the 3D necessary?
Kevin Greutert: "If you've seen the Saw films, you know that they're very dense films that take place in dark, complex environments with lots of machinery all around. It really kind of lends itself to the depth that 3D gives you. I think people will understand why we did it in 3D and why we did it the way we did."
