Transcript: Friday the 13th - Ryan Hansen Interview

Rebecca Murray from About.com Hollywood Movies at the LA Premiere of Friday the 13th.

Ryan Hansen – 'Nolan' in Friday the 13th

So tell me, why do we still love Jason?

Ryan Hansen: "Not sure. He gives me the creeps. Jason Voorhees scares me. He makes me not want to sleep at night. And I don't know why we all go and watch these movies. I think we're all sick and insane. But that's why it's fun, right?"

Then why did you take a role in this?

Ryan Hansen: "Well, ummm, because. Yeah. That's why. Because it's a great script. You're supposed to say that, right?"

Yeah. Character development…

Ryan Hansen: "Yeah, awesome character. His name's Nolan. He drives a boat and watches this girl wakeboard topless, so when I read that I was like, 'I'm in. I'll die. Who cares?'"

So when Derek [Mears] comes walking onto the set wearing that mask, what was your first reaction?

Ryan Hansen: "Yeah, it's pretty intense because he really, in real life, is like the nicest, funniest guy in the world. And it's definitely it's a different vibe on set when he's there, but it's still kind of like, 'Oh, it's still Derek there.' But you let him have his space a little bit. You know what I mean? He has knives and stuff. You don't want to feel like machetes and things so you don't want to stand too close just in case anything happens. Like it falls out and hits your toe, your toe's gone. I don't want to stand by that. "

And I understand you have a Starz series coming up soon. Tell me about that.

Ryan Hansen: "Okay. So, Party Down - it comes out on Starz in March. Party Down , who doesn't want to watch that? Rob Thomas, who created Veronica Mars, and Paul Rudd and a couple of other producers wrote the show and produced it. And it's really funny. It's got an amazing cast, Ken Marino and Adam Scott and Jane Lynch, Martin Starr and Lizzy Caplan and myself."

A lot of improv?

Ryan Hansen: "Lots of improv. Yeah, yeah, it's great. And it's really funny and I'm really excited to see it. I saw one episode – it's so funny. So get Starz. I don't have it yet. I'm going to get it."

What else do you have coming up?

Ryan Hansen: "Rockville CA, Josh Schwartz wrote and produced it. It's really cool. It's a web series on the WB.com. It comes out in March as well. And each episode there's like a featured band. They're kind of like the stars of each episode, I think."

Why should people go see this Friday the 13th? What sets it apart from every other Friday the 13th?

Ryan Hansen: "Because it comes out on Valentine's Day weekend and that's scary so you get to like get closer to that person next to you and accidentally like maybe feel some boob or something – that's why."

Unless you're a female and you don't really want to do that usually.

Ryan Hansen: "It's still nice to feel a little man tit, if you ask me."
