Johnny Depp - 'Captain Jack Sparrow'
On returning to the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise:
Johnny Depp: "Number four, the fourth time out, it's very exciting, you know? As always, very exciting. Your one hope really is that people enjoy it, the kids, that people enjoy it because that's who we made it for."
On putting on the costume:
Johnny Depp: "To me, every time that I'm able to step into those old ragged clothes is a gift. It's a great gift."
Penelope Cruz - 'Angelica'
On being a part of the Pirates franchise:
Penelope Cruz: "It was a lot of fun. It was six amazing months of my life, traveling around the world with Johnny and Rob [Marshall] and all these amazing cast members. It was really one of the greatest experiences I've had working on a movie."
On her love of the series:
Penelope Cruz: "I am a huge fan of what Johnny has created with this character. So it's a huge honor to have been invited into the fourth one."
Kevin McNally - 'Joshamee Gibbs'
On Blackbeard as the villain:
Kevin McNally: "Well, it's just perfect. It's the obvious next choice, isn't it? And Ian is so fantastic. I really felt that he'd looked at the films and gone, 'Okay, there's a lot of stuff been done. What can I do that's different?' And he's just pitched his performance in this most amazing way. I mean, this is a very scary but downplayed man. He's like a real psychopathic villain. I mean genuinely scary. I think all of our other villains were as well, but he's found his own way of doing it which is just brilliant."
Sam Claflin - 'Philip'
On being on the set of a Pirates movie:
Sam Claflin: "Every since I was a schoolboy I wanted to be a pirate, so having the opportunity to step onboard truly was the most amazing experience ever. You know, a dream come true."
On being welcomed by the franchise's returning players:
Sam Claflin: "Oh, so welcoming. If it wasn't for them, I probably wouldn't be here now. I owe my life to Johnny Depp, Rob Marshall as well, all of them. They've been truly inviting and invited us with open arms. We really felt like we were a family unit, a proper Pirates family. We got along so well and had so much fun on and off set together. It was really, really such an enjoyable experience."
Ian McShane - 'Blackbeard'
On working with Johnny Depp:
Ian McShane: "Johnny's a great guy. He loves playing this character, loves having a good time with it, and you follow along and have a great time with him. It's great."
