Paul Bettany – Priest and Creation
Aren't you supposed to busy at work right now?
Paul Bettany: "They gave me a day off. I can't kill vampires every day."
Is that what you've been doing?
Paul Bettany: "Yeah, it's exhausting."
Even after Legion Priest is exhausting?
Paul Bettany: "Yes, Priest is even more exhausting than Legion. There's a lot more jumping around."
Is there? Wire work?
Paul Bettany: "Yeah, wire work. It's great."
And the vampires, you get to kill one and don't have to become one?
Paul Bettany: "That's right."
What can we expect from it? Is it sci-fi, action, Western…what is it?
Paul Bettany: "It's all of those things. All of those things in one bundle. It's a really fun script and beautifully designed. And I'm having a great stunt team and I love working with Scott Stewart, the director, and I'm having a ball."
What was the appeal of something like this for you because it's not something you usually do?
Paul Bettany: "Well there's a sort of double life that I have as far as acting. I love making films like Creation about Charles Darwin, but I would be lying if I… The truth is when I was a kid my mom gave me a set of holsters, two holsters and guns and a cowboy hat. I ran around shooting things. And I suddenly thought, 'Well, it'd be really nice approaching 40 to have a ball doing that.'"
Does it feel as good now as it did back then?
Paul Bettany: "It feels even better because I have a bunch of friends who can put me on a wire and throw me up into the air."
And Creation we're going to actually get to see it because it's getting a release in America. I can't wait to see it. It's getting such great buzz.
Paul Bettany: "It was an amazing experience, making it. I'm really glad that it's got a North American distributor, and I'm very excited for it. I'm proud of the movie."
