Michael Welch plays one of Bella and Edward's classmates in the 'Twilight' film series who has a huge crush on Bella. Welch and the cast just wrapped up work on the second film, 'New Moon,' and he chatted about it at the 2009 MTV Movie Awards.

Michael Welch - 'Michael' in Twilight and New Moon

So how was it to be back on that set again and see all the familiar faces?

Michael Welch: "It was great. I mean, you know, Twilight - none of us really knew what we were getting ourselves into. We knew that it was a successful series of books, obviously, but you never really know if that's going to translate. But it did - so this time around we all sort of knew what we were getting ourselves into, and we're all very supportive. We are a little family at this point. And I'm really glad - I love this group of people - so I'm really glad I get to do a couple more movies with them because most of the time you make good friends and you never see each other again. And I love these people."

Talk about the fans - how are you handling this? All you have to say is Twilight and they start screaming.

Michael Welch: "They are incredible. I live in LA, I grew up here, it's not that crazy for me because it's LA, you know? When I go outside of LA, no matter where it is, really anywhere I go, people will be stopping me or taking pictures or whatever it is. And it's great. It's amazing. I'm just lucky. I know it's not me it's that I'm lucky to be a part of this thing. No, I mean I do what I do. But it's just great. I couldn't be more grateful about it."

How different was it having a different director on this. Was there a change in anything?

Michael Welch: "It was totally different. Between Chris [Weitz] and Catherine [Hardwicke], I mean I don't think one is necessarily better than the other. They're both amazing directors, but stylistically they're so different. Catherine is very just like crazy and hectic, and she just needs chaos to thrive - which I think is beautiful. But Chris is just like really calm, really has his stuff together, very thorough, just does all the work in prep. And when you do all the work in prep, then you know all you have to do on set is just show up and it's all already there."

So one is easier for you as an actor?

Michael Welch: "Yeah, I think probably Chris' style is easier. And I love you Catherine, if you're watching. But I do. I think that just that kind of calm, relaxed thing just allows you to be more focused. It's good that way."
