Daniel Cudmore – 'Felix' in The Twilight Saga: New Moon
Is there anything you would have stayed out on the street for five days for?
Daniel Cudmore: "I know – I just got asked that question. I'm thinking…I don't know. I don't there was anything as a child that really kind of gripped me so well. But at the same time, I think I had two channels on my TV until the age of about 14. I think the only thing I was camping for was just to be outside and playing around, but nothing that would ever grip me quite like these things."
How is it to be a bad vampire?
Daniel Cudmore: "It's a lot of fun."
Is it really?
Daniel Cudmore: "Oh yeah. I was always playing the good guy and everyone already walks around day to day life always trying to be nice, and suppressing that primal urge. And it's just great to bring that out and just enjoy it and embrace it."
And have red eyes and vampire looks.
Daniel Cudmore: "Oh, I know. Hats off to the people [who did] those hand-painted contacts, beautiful Italian jackets. Man, it's a tough job sometimes."
Did you keep your costume?
Daniel Cudmore: "I wish."
Would you wear it out?
Daniel Cudmore: "I'd wear it all the time - the white make-up on, the red eyes, just wearing the jacket."
What was it like filming? You guys didn't actually go to Italy to film those scenes, right?
Daniel Cudmore: "We didn't film those scenes in Italy, but we did get to go to Italy. We got to go and enjoy Montepulciano, which is about two hours north of Rome. And it was so gorgeous and everyone there worked so hard and was so accommodating, and that's when I really got to experience the crazy sort of fan…you know…just passion towards these books and movies. And it was something that was kind of strange, but a lot of fun at the same time."
So you're so used to action, the stuff in this must have been nothing for you, right?
Daniel Cudmore: "I wouldn't say nothing. I mean, there's a lot riding on your shoulders. But it all comes down to your crew and, you know, the cast that they have here and the director and the stunt coordinator and everything. I mean, they did such a great job preparing us for this it almost does make it easy. As you say it was easier for me, but I think it's all in the preparation."
You'll be back for number four if there is one?
Daniel Cudmore: "If there is one, I'll be back."
Have you read the books?
Daniel Cudmore: "I have. I read all three back to back to back. …I just finished up the fourth one so I'm all done. The fourth one is a long one, but it's great."
