Rebecca Murray from About.com Hollywood Movies at the Hollywood Premiere of Max Payne.
Beau Bridges ('BB Hensley')
How is it to play a character that we do not know is good or bad?
Beau Bridges: "Well, you know I think one of the fun things about this movie is that like life, sometimes nothing is what it seems to be. So it's a real roller coaster ride for the audience. You've got to kind of keep your eyes open in this movie to see what's coming next, and that story was there in the video game. We tried to keep true to that in the movie. I'm seeing it for the first time tonight so I'm excited for it, but the buzz is that it pretty much matches that game and maybe goes beyond it a little bit."
How is it for you when you're playing a character like that where you can't give away anything, whether he's good or whether he's bad? Is it harder?
Beau Bridges: "You know, whatever character I play, I always try to find the good and the bad there because I think that's true about life. I think we all have the hero and the villain in us, you know? So that's how I approach any part, so it wasn't that difficult. Not that different."
Nelly Furtado ('Christa Balder')
Why should women go see this movie? We know what's in it for the guys.
Nelly Furtado: "Let's see, are there women in the movie? Well, you know what? There are some interesting women kind of kicking butt in the movie as well. Yeah, Mila [Kunis'] character is kind of interesting. She's kind of taking care of her younger sister in the movie. You know what? I think the supernatural element will appeal to the women because trust me, I try to drag… Well, he's kind of willing when it comes to the girl movies with me, my husband, but I owe him some boy movies now so that's why we're here tonight. But the supernatural element I think is universal. I think it's unisex."
Kate Burton ('Nicole Horne')
Kate Burton: "I play a very mysterious lady. I'm the CEO of the corporation where Mark Wahlberg – Max Payne's wife worked. And you think, 'Is she is a good person? Is she a bad person? Who is she? Who is Nicole Horne?' And you know, it was really fun. I was in Toronto for a couple of weeks. I shot like four or five very small scenes. I have fabulous costumes, many fur coats, and spent a lot of time in the back of a limo. So what can I tell you? But I was not really part of any of the action, which is a little bit sad. But you know not so sad. My first movie was Big Trouble in Little China and in that one I would go to work every day, and that was a really long time ago, and put on hair and makeup and then have someone throw a bucket of water at my head. So, you know, it was great. I get to do a lot of independent movies and it was so fun to get to do a big studio movie like this, having just done Grey's Anatomy for three years and I'm just I'm doing a play, The House of Blue Leaves at the Mark Taper Forum, and just did a Broadway show last year, so I feel like really lucky that I get to do all these different things in all these different genres. I feel blessed ."
Marianthi Evans ('Michelle Payne')
How was it to play Mark Wahlberg's wife?
Marianthi Evans: "I wish I had more scenes where I was alive, but really nice. Oh yeah, he's great. He's a great guy."
When you get a script and you know you're going to die, how do you accept that?
Marianthi Evans: "Honestly, I was just so happy to get a gig. I'm just like, 'Whatever. What job? Sure. What am I doing? Fine.' Well they added an extra scene for me which was really nice. So what I thought was going to be a one day shoot ended up being 10. So I'm not complaining at all."
What will women like about this movie?
Marianthi Evans: "Because it's Mark Wahlberg trying to avenge my death. Who wouldn't want that? Come on, who wouldn't want the man of their dreams to go out and take care of business?"
Are you a video game person?
Marianthi Evans: "I am, but I haven't played this one yet. I haven't and I was looking for it and everybody, all my friends who are huge fans of the video game I said, 'Oh, good, let me play it.' 'Oh, I don't have it anymore.' And because it was such an older game it was hard for me to find. But I love these games."
What do you usually play?
Marianthi Evans: "I usually play Tomb Raider because I like to pretend I'm her. I like Resident Evil. I like any game that deals with me trying to figure out how to get to the next level. Where you sort of have to use your brain…"
And you get to kill people too.
Marianthi Evans: "You get to kill people, yeah."
That'll be your next movie.
Marianthi Evans: "Oh, just give me another movie!"
