Mark Strong - Green Lantern
Tell us what it's like on the set of this and how did it affect you physically? What did they do to you?Mark Strong: "Well I've come in right at the end. I think it's a 100 days shoot, we're 90 days in, we've got a couple of weeks to go. And all of the stuff that we're doing now is in the studio, because all of the stuff that I do as Sinestro is set in space. So my experience of this film is basically being in a big blue room and being attached to wires and people pulling me all over the place, which is work, you know?"
Can you describe who the character is?
Mark Strong: "Sinestro is the arch-nemesis of the Green Lantern, of Hal Jordan. In the initial story, the one that we're shooting now, he is actually his mentor. He's the greatest of the Green Lanterns and when Hal's inducted into the corps, he's the guy that puts him through his paces and tests whether he's worthy."
What makes Comic Con such a special place to be?
Mark Strong: "Well, the fact that what's really interesting is that Hollywood is getting into these big, epic movies that's drawing from the source material of the comics. And Comic Con is a bunch of people interested in comics so the two are like just coming together in this orgy of comicness. So it's amazing that finally the technology has caught up with the vision and they can make these films and that there is this audience of people who love this stuff, so hopefully they can deliver in the right way."
Why do you keep playing villains?
Mark Strong: "Because they're the most interesting parts, I find. You never really question why the good guy is good, but you often wonder why the bad guys is bad. So, it's about finding why they are the way they are that I find interesting."
