Brandon T Jackson - 'Benny' in Lottery Ticket

Tell me about this movie. You get to be funny in it - everybody in this movie is funny. So how do you guys play off of each other?

Brandon T Jackson: "Well what I tried to do in this film, I didn't want to overdo the comedy because everybody's funny. I didn't want to get into a contest of who's funniest, so my thing was like to just flow with the character and bring a little heart to the film. Because Benny's character is kind of like the one who brings everything on that rooftop scene. I wanted to make sure he's just not funny but he has a lot of heart, too."

Everybody keeps saying it's a comedy, but it has a heart.

Brandon T Jackson: "It's a blessing. It's a real story. A lot of kids are in inner city and in the projects, but imagine if you win a lottery ticket. You know what I mean? Can you imagine winning a lottery ticket and your life is going from zero to a trillion in one day, and you've got to wait until the weekend is over just to cash the ticket."

How did you and Bow Wow bond?

Brandon T Jackson: "Me and Bow, I love working with him, man."

Is he just Bow?

Brandon T Jackson: "No, I mean for me I call him Bow. I've got to get a shot with him when he comes. He's one of my good friends. He's a great actor - I mean a great rising actor I should say. He's still young. We're all young in our talent. You know, we're not Denzel yet or Will yet but we're trying to get there."

And you've got Big Momma's House.

Brandon T Jackson: "Yes. Big Momma's House 3 coming out in February with me and Martin Lawrence. We already did it."

And Martin?

Brandon T Jackson: "Martin's amazing. I hate using the word amazing because it's so cliche, but he's a very remarkable man. He's very talented and I mean smart."

Naturi Naughton - 'Stacie' in Lottery Ticket

Tell me about playing in this movie and being opposite Bow Wow.

Naturi Naughton: "Oh my goodness, playing in Lottery Ticket was so much fun for me and, of course, working with Bow Wow was a pleasure. You know, I've known him since we were teenagers actually from the music business when he was like doing his thing. Basically I just feel like our careers have definitely grown and he's such a professional and a pleasure to work with. I had a great time with Bow."

Did you know that you guys were going to eventually do a project together?

Naturi Naughton: "No. I mean I don't think you know that you're going to work with somebody. But when I found out who the cast was, I was very happy. I was like, 'Okay, let's do this.' I was very excited so it was cool."

In a summer full of comedies, what sets this one apart?

Naturi Naughton: "Well, this summer I think we've got some great films but Lottery Ticket separates itself, I think, because it's not just an urban comedy. It's not just a comedy. It's a great movie that has a great story about community, giving back, and trying to figure out what the lottery... Sometimes the obsession with the lottery clouds our minds from doing what we should be doing which is working hard or doing things to give back. I think when we realize what we should be doing, I think we get deeper into how we can change our communities. And I think that's what Lottery Ticket is about more so than just winning money. It's such a deeper story than that."

Director Erik White was saying that he let you guys do a lot of improv on the set.

Naturi Naughton: "Yeah, the comedians got to improv a lot. I didn't improv as much. I mean that's not really my forte. But I definitely learned how to just do a scene and kind of be on my toes. And Brandon T Jackson kept me on my toes. You know, Terry Crews, everybody...I mean the comedians and everyone just being such free spirits, it kept me going. It actually made it very fun."

Did any of them make you laugh so hard that you blew a take?

Naturi Naughton: "That has happened. Yes, yes. There have been a couple of takes that probably in the bloopers somewhere. But it happens; it's not a bad thing because it keeps you having a good time. You want to enjoy, and I had a great time."

Vince Green - 'Malik' in Lottery Ticket

The set - what was it like? Was it crazy?

Vince Green: "It was great. We were shooting in Atlanta and it was November, and in Atlanta you're expecting it to be still warm...freezing cold. So there were scenes that they had to do a little camera tricks, some Avatar-type of camera tricks to make it look like we're sweating. But it was fun. Everyone on the set was great. Erik was a very proficient director. He didn't drag and he didn't go overboard."

And it's his first feature film.

Vince Green: "It's his first feature, which is so impressive."

And he let you go off the script.

Vince Green: "They wanted to stick to it but they wanted the authenticity of what really goes on in the neighborhood so some things were switched around, some things stuck to the script."
