Rebecca Murray from About.com Hollywood Movies at the World Premiere of License to Wed.
Robin Williams ('Reverend Frank')
How was working with director Ken Kwapis, and did he just let you go?
Robin Williams: "Working with Ken Kwapis? Thank you for asking. Yeah, he would let us go, but also he was nice because he would have just slight boundaries. You could go over them, but it was the sense that he had people like John [Krasinski], but a lot of other members of The Office cast who weren't afraid to go off with you, but keep it real. That's the kind of thing they do on The Office. It's outrageous but there's still a base where you go, 'Yeah, they're believable,' as outrageous as they are. There's still a level of, 'They're credible.'"
Were you ever tempted to take it into R-rated territory?
Robin Williams: "No, not wearing the collar. It's difficult with that. All of a sudden you get, 'No, you can't say that.'"
Rachael Harris ('Janine')
This had to be full of improv, right?
Rachael Harris: "It was."
Was the script used at all?
Rachael Harris: "I think the script was used. We did have a script to go off of, but then Ken Kwapis encouraged us to make things our own. And then of course with Robin, he just brings things to life with his improv so "
You must be so used to it that you don't crack up though, right? Do you keep it together?
Rachael Harris: "No. I'm a terrible a terrible breaker. I really am. At The Groundlings I was known as the one who constantly broke. It's certainly nothing to be proud of."
What gets to you?
Rachael Harris: "What gets to me is when like Robin or John would just, like they'd say their normal line and then maybe add in a little improv and then they'd go a complete 180 like with some crazy thing that's like non sequitur. That kind of stuff really kills me. But also just a look on the face actually really sends me into orbit."
This one is about Robin's character giving these guys a test to see if they're compatible. What would you test couples about to see if they were ready for marriage?
Rachael Harris: "I would make sure that they were on the same page about what cereal they eat. No, babies, faith, finances, all that kind of stuff. I think that's very important to talk about before you get married, what your expectations are. Do you have expectations? The big one I think for everybody is, 'Are you okay with people stopping by, or do you want a phone call first?' Many couples fight over that."
And the cereal.
Rachael Harris: "Yeah!"
Josh Flitter ('Choir Boy')
Tell me about your role in this movie. You play Robin Williams' assistant, right?
Josh Flitter: "Yes, I play his sidekick assistant, and I help him try to figure out things with John and Mandy that he couldn't do because he's too big or too tall or something. So, like, one of the scenes he sends me in the room and I bug the room."
That sounds like a lot of fun.
Josh Flitter: "I'm a bad kid. He's real fun to play."
Did he improv most of his lines, or was it from the script?
Josh Flitter: "It was all based on the script but he improv'd lines because that's just him. He's Robin Williams."
How tough was it for you to keep up with?
Interrupted by fans screaming from across the street.
Josh Flitter: "It was tough but I did it. I did it. No, I'm kidding. A lot of people like my mom think that I kept up with Robin Williams. It was great, but I don't think I could possibly even get close. Like, I mean hopefully I could, you know? I don't want to brag or anything, but I think I could."
Were you a fan of his work before you got to work with him?
Josh Flitter: "Always, totally. I loved his work. I just think he's hysterical."
When you were filming the scenes, did he bust you up or were you able to keep in control?
Josh Flitter: "You know what? I kept in control for a little bit, but I mean, what are you going to do? How are you going to handle it? He's Robin Williams. Just being around him makes you laugh. There was no way I could have gone there for one straight day without laughing."
