Jamie Foxx – 'Nick Rice' in Law Abiding Citizen
Jamie Foxx: "The movie is absolutely incredible. Gerard Butler is absolutely fantastic in the movie. It was great working with him. The movie tested at 95 so it's a great popcorn, sit down have a great time movie."
How does it feel to always have the name 'Oscar winner Jamie Foxx' next to your name?
Jamie Foxx: "Well, you know what? It feels absolutely great because that's what this city is built on. But you put that to the side and you keep moving on and you keep working. Getting the chance to work with great people like F Gary Gray who really did a great job putting this movie together and Lucas Foster [producer], so just happy to be in it."
Bruce McGill – 'Jonas Cantrell' in Law Abiding Citizen
What was the appeal of this because you see a lot of scripts?
Bruce McGill: "Well, Gary Gray I've worked with before and I really like. I love Jamie."
You had worked with him before.
Bruce McGill: "I had worked with Jamie before. I don't know if we had scenes before and if we did they were cut out of Ali, which is what I worked with him. But I just think the world of him. And, you know, I'm of a certain age and there's only so many… I'm not going to play a 25 year old college kid like Animal House anymore. That ain't going to happen unless it's like a weird flashback in a scary movie. So you know you want things that have a chance to play. I love Gary Gray's quote in the LA Times about this movie. He said, 'Well, I don't know. I don't have a message. If people want a message, they can go to church. This is a ride. It's like a ride at Disneyland.' And I think the tougher it is out there, the more you want to go in there and get taken somewhere. You don't want to have a dysfunctional family shoved down your throat – at least I don't. So this film is a ride. I jumped out of my skin. I saw it in New York a couple of weeks ago and luckily I hit the floor before the guy next to me jumped out of his chair into me. There's some thrilling moments."
So you play the District Attorney?
Bruce McGill: "I play Jamie's boss and mentor and friend, the District Attorney which is an elected job in Philadelphia. Everyone else gets their job but the real DA is elected, so I'm a political figure. But basically I'm a DA. I'm a prosecuting attorney trying to make the system work."
Emerald-Angel Young – 'Denise Rice' in Law Abiding Citizen
So you play Jamie's daughter?
Emerald-Angel Young: "Yes."
And what was that like?
Emerald-Angel Young: "Awesome. Positive attitude, everything was right."
Okay. What was he like playing your dad? Did he give you any advice?
Emerald-Angel Young: "Yes. He said to me, 'Do your best and I know you'll do good because you're my daughter."
This movie is not for kids your age.
Emerald-Angel Young: "No it is not."
So, have you seen it?
Emerald-Angel Young: "I'm waiting till it goes on DVD so I can watch my parts."
What else are you working on?
Emerald-Angel Young: "Well, I have another movie. It's called An Invisible Sign of My Own with Jessica Alba. I have lots of TV shows, commercials and stuff."
Why did you want to be an actress in the first place?
Emerald-Angel Young: "Well, I just love acting. I like making people smile. I like making them happy. I just love seeing their faces."
