Lauren Bowles - 'Britney' in Hall Pass
I know you're in Hall Pass but I've got to tell you we're going to do some True Blood questions because I'm a True Blood freak. I've read the books.
Lauren Bowles: "There is little I can say. Let's just say I want to keep my job."
But you guys have started filming?
Lauren Bowles: "We've started filming, yes. We're in production for the fourth season right now. That much I can tell you. Beyond that..."
Let's see...are you allowed to say whether there is more witch action this season?
Lauren Bowles: "I can say that because Alan [Ball] acknowledged that at the end of last season, that this year would be the season of the witch. Anything that's already out there I can confirm. But outside of that, not much. I can tell you this much: it's a fantastic job and I'd like to hold on to it."
Let's ask you about your co-stars on it because that would not be breaking any rules.
Lauren Bowles: "This is true. This is absolutely true. Although if I were to trash them all, that wouldn't be quite smart either. My answer is always when I'm asked about that, it's those pat answers that when I see other people give I'm like, 'Oh shut up! They're not all nice.' But they really are. It's like I can't tell you what a dream job it is. It's the cast, the crew, it all starts with Alan of course, but it really is just a dream job. In fact, my first day in the make-up...you get all the good scuttlebutt from like makeup and hair, so I'm like, 'Okay, how is everyone really?' And they're like, 'Really, there's not a bad apple.' She goes, 'Trust me, if they are - if someone's a pain in the ass - they don't last long.'"
That makes sense. They can kill pretty much anyone off.
Lauren Bowles: "Exactly. It's kind of always a revolving door."
Except for the three main characters.
Lauren Bowles: "Exactly. Everyone else it can be a free-for-all. And she's right. Truly, the entire cast is just awesome. And really ugly, clearly."
Oh, they're horrible-looking people. Last year, you worked mostly with Carrie [Preston].
Lauren Bowles: "I did."
This year, more interplay?
Lauren Bowles: "There's more interplay. I can be that non-specific. With whom, you'll have to wait and see."
Okay, let's go to Hall Pass. I've seen it...
Lauren Bowles: "You've beat me. I haven't. I did a little looping on it. Oh, I love him. [Stephen Merchant steps up next to us] He's hilarious. But anyway, just the bits that I looped have I seen. I haven't seen the whole movie so I'm very excited."
But what I don't get is some people are calling this a chick flick and I do not see it as a chick flick.
Lauren Bowles: "I didn't either when I read it. I thought, 'This is like a guy's fantastic.' Believe me, the chicks earn their own way with their own pass as well. It goes both ways, that pass. But, anyway, yeah. I didn't hear it was touted as a chick flick."
At the press conference the Farrelly Brothers were saying this is a chick flick.
Lauren Bowles: "Oh, if the brothers were saying, it's true then."
Were you a fan of their work?
Lauren Bowles: "This is the third thing I've done with them, and they are really such awesome dudes. You would never know they're these big Hollywood directors. They're like these dudes from the East Coast that are like, 'Hey, how's it going?' You would never know in a million years, and they just really are a dream."
