Martha MacIsaac – 'Paige' in The Last House on the Left

You are just a wild woman in this thing. How much fun was she to play?

Martha MacIsaac: "I had a blast. It was a lot of fun. She's sort of this spunky, feisty one of the group so it was a fun part for me to play."

But then bad things happen… So how tough was it to switch into that mode?

Martha MacIsaac: "You know what? We all became really close right away. Sara [Paxton] and I, actually we both found it pretty difficult to do our scenes where either one was being hurt in any way."

That must have been sad for you.

Martha MacIsaac: "Yeah it was. Everybody is so good that we kind of got sucked into it too. It was difficult but we had so much fun shooting. Everybody just kind of, we bonded right away and just had the greatest time."

It's so weird to say you had so much fun shooting this.

Martha MacIsaac: "I know it is, but we really did. We shot it in South Africa and nobody knew anybody, and we instantly just became really close. We've all stayed in good contact. It was actually a very fun experience."

How does that work when you're then having to turn around get attacked by people that you're having lunch and dinner with? How tough is that?

Martha MacIsaac: "It kind of makes it a little easier because you trust them enough that you know nothing too bad is going to happen."

If this had happened to you, if this was your child, could you go to these lengths like the parents in this did?

Martha MacIsaac: "I don't know. I mean, they give them pretty good. I just don't know that I'm that creative even. I don't know that I could do it. Well, I don't know. Hopefully I won't have to test that theory."

Did you watch the original?

Martha MacIsaac: "I did. I watched it but not till after we finished shooting. But I did watch it eventually."

Since you've seen the two, how do you think they compare?

Martha MacIsaac: "I think they're both great. I think that we made some changes to the original, but I think that's sort of the point of remaking something. The first is this amazing little cult classic movie that was way ahead of its time. Hopefully we're introducing that to a whole new audience and hopefully they're going to really enjoy it – and be terrified. They should be really scared."

If you're going to a movie theater, is this the type of movie you'd normally go see?

Martha MacIsaac: "I would be so scared of this movie if I wasn't in it, I don't know. I'm such a chicken. I instantly get pulled in, and this one especially I know I'd get pulled into so I'm a little bit nervous for tonight. So, we'll see."

What are you working on now?

Martha MacIsaac: "I'm about to head to Canada actually next week to work on a movie."

Can you say what it is?

Martha MacIsaac: "Sure I can. It's called Halo, not the video game."

Is it about angels?

Martha MacIsaac: "Sort of. It's sort of a religious satire kind of thing. It's really cute."
