Kali Hawk - Couples Retreat and Get Him to the Greek

How did you handle yourself around all these millions of funny people in [Couples Retreat]?

Kali Hawk: "Oh my gosh, I just watched and learned mostly. Vince Vaughn is amazing."

And did they throw lines at you and were you just able to react to those? Or did they stick to the script at all?

Kali Hawk: "No, there's a lot of improvisation that happens when you work with Jon Favreau and Vince Vaughn. So basically the rule of improv is you listen and respond, so a lot of listening going on. Hopefully my responses were funny."

They never told you to keep up.

Kali Hawk: "No, no they didn't."

So how does your character play with all the other guys?

Kali Hawk: "Basically, the movie's about four couples and I play one of the four. My partner is Faison Love and he's the only one of the guys who isn't married. He's separated from his wife and I'm the young girlfriend that he shows up with. I bring a lot of wild, crazy hijinx."

Wild crazy hijinx – can you say any of them?

Kali Hawk: "Well, we're on an island so there are some water sports. I am very, very particular about the way that I like things done, and that's very different than the middle-aged couples that are in the movie. So my character sticks out like a sore thumb."

Are you particular in real life about how things get done?

Kali Hawk: "Well, sort of. I'm a New Yorker so I always kind of feel like Meg Ryan in When Harry Met Sally how she orders so particularly. That's a very New York thing, so I think I'm particular about food."

What else are you working on?

Kali Hawk: "After that I did Get Him to the Greek, that's the Judd Apatow kind of sequel."

With Russell Brand.

Kali Hawk: "Yes, with Russell and Jonah Hill and Sean Puff Daddy Coombs. So that's going to be coming out in the summer of 2010."

Who do you play in that?

Kali Hawk: "I play the assistant to Puff Daddy and the arch-nemesis of Jonah Hill."

Was it fun going up against Jonah?

Kali Hawk: "Yeah, he's really funny."

He never sticks to the script.

Kali Hawk: "Yeah, but you know it kind of works out almost better that way because you feel like, as an artist, you're very free and you're very loose with what you're doing. And sometimes you can come up with better moments that way."
