Julie Benz - Saw V and Punisher: War Zone

What's the appeal of horror to you?

Julie Benz: "It is a true journey into the imagination. It's a completely fictional world that's created, and you go on a journey that is completely based in imagination but can feel so real. "

And Saw V - does it feel real?

Julie Benz: "Yes, it does."

What's it like on a Saw set?

Julie Benz: "Well, you know, I'm kind of the newbie. I was terrified and scared and grossed out, and everybody laughed at me."

Did they treat you nicely too?

Julie Benz: "They do. They do. They were all like, 'Oh, we were there back there in Saw I or Saw II. We get it.' It's a very well-oiled machine. The crews have been together forever so it's easy to walk into as an actor. Very few stunt doubles. We had to do a lot of stuff on our own, which can be scary. "

Do you like doing that?

Julie Benz: "I do. I do. I'm very physically active and I was an athlete growing up so, yeah, I do enjoy being physical and being challenged physically."

What can audiences expect with this fifth film? Does it take the story to a whole new area? What's it do?

Julie Benz: "Yeah, it does. It's even more terrifying than the first four, I think."

How can that be?

Julie Benz: "It can be. Those guys, they're dark. They're twisted those boys that write it."

What else are you working on?

Julie Benz: "Well, Dexter. And I have the Punisher coming out in December."

Do you kick ass in that one or are you a girlfriend or what?

Julie Benz: "I am a little tougher. I'm not a girlfriend. I play a wife of a cop and I have a young daughter. And I'm pretty much of a mommy bear. I'll do whatever it takes to protect me daughter…and I'm kind of mad at everybody."

Betsy Russell - Saw 3, Saw IV and Saw V

How do you continue the story when people think they've seen everything that could possibly be in a Saw movie already?

Betsy Russell: "I don't, the writers do. I'm so glad I don't have to think about that. "

So where does the story take us this time? Is it a whole new direction or somewhere fans of the series will be used to?

Betsy Russell: "Fans will not be disappointed by Saw V. It's really, really good. I haven't seen it but I hear. I hear it's amazing, it's gorier, creepier and more intense than any of them. That's what the fans want so they keep having to deliver - and they do."

Is that the type of movie you go see when you're buying a ticket?

Betsy Russell: "Now I do, now that I'm in them. But, yeah, I mean there's a lot of people who just live for this horror stuff, and I can understand why. It gets your senses flowing. It makes you feel things. It's fun. It's exciting. I like watching people's faces when they're watching it too. It's great."

Are you one of those people who can't watch yourself in a horror movie because it's scary even though it's you?

Betsy Russell: "No. If I'm up on screen I pretty much find time to watch it and see how I did. And then I'm done – don't watch it again."

Is there going to be a Saw VI?

Betsy Russell: "Of course. If the fans keep coming out, yeah."
