Jennifer Carpenter – The Factory and Dexter

I finally am starting to watch Dexter. I know I'm late catching on. I've watched season one and season two now. That's incredible.

Jennifer Carpenter: "Oh, good. Well look out for four."

Is it going to be fantastic?

Jennifer Carpenter: "It's the best, by far the best. John Lithgow is on it and the writers have really turned out a great season."

That's what is so impressive is that the writing is so good. Do you get those scripts and just go "Oh my god!"?

Jennifer Carpenter: We are salivating for them. The crew gets them before us so we're always grabbing them from the crew to try and read them, and they're fighting because they want to read it. So, it's really good. It's scary because the fourth season's so strong it makes me think they're going to do 20 seasons and I'm going to be old and gray before it's all over."

But that's okay, right? You wouldn't mind playing the character that long.

Jennifer Carpenter: "Yes, I would. I've got to get my mouth in order. I spend the whole hiatus trying to stop cussing."

I was wondering about that. Do you normally have a potty mouth?

Jennifer Carpenter: "I don't, but during the season I catch myself and it's so unattractive."

But it's cool for the character. It's such a cool quirk.

Jennifer Carpenter: "Oh yeah. She uses…I mean one f-bomb is something totally different than another f-bomb, you know?"

So the fourth season is going to take us where? Can you say anything at all about it?

Jennifer Carpenter: "Well, I mean, Dexter is playing more characters than ever. He was a forensics geek and a serial killer. Now he's a serial killer, forensics geek, mother of three, wife to one. He's on the hunt for the most dangerous guy we've ever seen. It's a lot."

Meanwhile what's happening with you?

Jennifer Carpenter: "I'm trying to survive the weekend."

And you've got The Factory coming up to, right?

Jennifer Carpenter: "Yeah, with John Cusack. I don't know what the release date is, but it's exciting. It's not a horror film but it's still dark. It's sort of part of the transition to get to romantic comedies, I hope."

Is that what you're hoping to do?

Jennifer Carpenter: "Yeah, sure. I mean comedy period. It doesn't have to be romantic."
