Jason Sudeikis - 'Fred' in Hall Pass
What's the craziest thing you ever did to spice up a relationship?
Jason Sudeikis: "Stop being in it. I feel like I'm on The Family Feud. You know what I mean? I mean, sometimes that makes things better. A little distance helps sometimes. That's what I meant."
How did you get that relationship with Owen Wilson going?
Jason Sudeikis: "Well, that guy has chemistry with every living human being on earth, from Ben Stiller to Vince Vaughn, Jackie Chan. I was just fortunate enough to be on the receiving end of that."
Was it easy for you guys to throw things back and forth and improv?
Jason Sudeikis: "Very much, yeah. We're just sort of talking. That's pretty much how we talk, yeah. It's great. He literally the first time I spoke to him on the phone we made like a joke and he laughed right away. I was like, 'Oh, we're going to be fine.'"
Did you do anything to get ready for this film?
Jason Sudeikis: "Yes. I ate a lot of Waffle House. I stayed out of the sun. I shellacked my hair. There's a great deal of preparation."
Kristin Carey - 'Aunt Meg' in Hall Pass
I've heard this movie described as a chick flick - I've seen it. In what way is this movie a chick flick?
Kristin Carey: "Because the chicks have all the power. They give the hall pass, but guess who goes out and finds their own hall pass? Christina Applegate and Miss Jenna Fischer are amazing. And what I like about the Farrellys' characters is they're strong women. They're not these dopey women that don't... No, Christina and Jenna are both very strong."
How are the Farrellys as directors? Did they allow you a lot of freedom?
Kristin Carey: "A lot of improv. They give you the freedom to do that, which we loved. They wrote the lines and the writers were amazing, but they wanted you to really try everything. And they were changing lines on set, 'Try this, Kristin. Try that.' It was constant and immediate and you better be on it. You better eat your Wheaties, whatever, that morning."
I would imagine there's 2 hours-worth of outtakes we're going to see on the DVD, right?
Kristin Carey: "I hope so. I pulled a really funny prank and I think that's ending up... It's a little nasty so I don't know if I can tell you about it."
Go ahead. We're online.
Kristin Carey: "Okay, good. Well, I have a love scene with Mr. Sudeikis and when he goes to lift the sheet, there's a penis on me red pubic hair. It was a joke! I had set it up and said, 'Guys, I don't know. I don't think I can do this scene,' and so they freaked out. Everyone came over to have a big discussion about it, and so all of a sudden I lifted the covers and there it was. And I said, 'The carpet matches the drapes, baby.' I mean, it looked like it should have been on me. Those guys, I never thought I could get Owen, Jason and the Farrellys to fall down laughing and they did. It was fun. There's a couple of memorable things. So the fake chow scene...ladies, we're on a mission. We've got to stop this. These guys are trying to pull this and we're not going to let it happen. Absolutely not. Now we know. Tie their hands behind their back - or put them on your boobs."
