Jackie Earle Haley – 'Walter Kovacs' / 'Rorschach' in Watchmen

So playing this guy, he is a very interesting character and he is a lot of people's favorite Watchmen character, is that hard to bring to life?

Jackie Earle Haley: "You know, I think for me there just was…I don't know that that made it harder, the fact that there is such a strong fan base for this character, but it truly gave me a stronger sense of responsibility and accountability to that. But, that was also easy though because of how good the source material is. There's a reason why there's such a strong fan base. There's a reason why these guys feel like they are the gatekeepers to this original source material. And it's because it's magnificent source material. It is truly the comic book that changed how people wrote comic books. So from that standpoint, even with that sense of responsibility, it was easy because it's the right thing to do is to try to be as true to this thing, as true to the character, as possible. So in a way, helpful.

I can even tell you more, too. It's like from the standpoint of that accountability to the fan base, I found them incredibly helpful in my preparation for the character. In studying the book, reading the script and talking to Zack, I would also pour through the internet to look at blogs and threads where people were talking about who they thought Rorschach is and why. And man, a lot of wonderful [info]."

And that helped inform who you play?

Jackie Earle Haley: "Absolutely."
