Jackie Earle Haley – 'Freddy Krueger' in A Nightmare on Elm Street
Now I've seen the trailer and it looks incredible. I think it impressed a lot of fans, according to the internet. So is that a big worry off of your shoulders?Jackie Earle Haley: "Well, I mean it feels really good knowing that people are going, 'Hey, this is looking really cool,' you know? I know a lot of people are kind of like you know also, 'It's not Robert! It's got to be Robert!' And that's cool. I get that too. It's a trailer, the movie will come out and hopefully it'll be kick ass. You know, I've been working on it lately, going in and doing ADR and stuff. I haven't seen the whole movie but I've been seeing these little clips of it, it's looking pretty good, man. I'm digging it."
What was like the first time you put your hands in those gloves?
Jackie Earle Haley: "It kind of hurt because they had to adjust them. They had to keep tweaking them and stuff. But I think the first time where it fit and I was like wearing it and stuff, it's kind of cool."
It's like now you really felt like him?
Jackie Earle Haley: "This is weird. And then the sweater goes on and the hat, you've got all this stuff on and it's bizarre. And then when the makeup comes on it's like, 'Wow.'"
I would imagine it's a pretty easy character to put away at the end of the day.
Jackie Earle Haley: "Oh, absolutely. Oh yeah."
All right, the Green Lantern rumors are out there. What can you say?
"You know, this has really taken me off-guard. I got an email today from somebody saying, 'Hey, somebody's trying to confirm this.' It's the first I've heard of it. I mean, you know I think I did hear something from like - because I know the guys that are making are making it and stuff. But there's been no... Nobody's called me and said, 'Hey, we're doing this.' But it sounds good to me. I certainly want to check it. Yeah, I'm excited about it."
So you'd do it if they offered it to you?
"I couldn't tell you that. I haven't seen anything. But it's neat that, you know... It makes me curious. I need to check it out. I don't even know about the character. So, yeah."
It's a villain. "A villain? I can do villains."
