Haley Webb – 'Janet' in The Final Destination
You play the best friend. What was it like?Haley Webb: "What was the filming like? Amazing. The most fun I've ever had in my entire life, hands down."
On a horror movie where they're putting you through hell, that's the best you've ever had?
Haley Webb: "Yeah. You're surrounded by death all day, yet you have the most fun you ever had. Sort of strange, but that's what Craig Perry [the producer] does. I think that's what he's best at."
Most of the stunts on this are practical. There's no CGI so what did they actually put you through?
Haley Webb: "They put me through hell, basically, which I learned hell is on earth now. It was down in New Orleans, shooting a film. No, the car wash – that was practical, that was me, that was water, that was a car."
How many times?
Haley Webb: "It was a three day shoot. And at one point I was in water for 12 hours and then I had to get dry again to do it again, so it was fun."
Fun? I can't believe you keep saying that.
Haley Webb: "You should try it sometime."
I don't think so. Were you a fan of Final Destination to begin with?
Haley Webb: "I was. I was, yeah. I got the audition and I was like, 'Finally! I've been waiting three years for this.'"
What's the appeal?
Haley Webb: "The appeal I think is taking a fear we all share, which is death, and taking it out of our imagination and putting it on the screen right before you. I think it explores that for you."
Besides your own death, what's your favorite death from the film?
Haley Webb: "In this one I love the escalator."
Everybody keeps saying that.
Haley Webb: "Really? Because it's the greatest. Her foot just goes and I'm like, 'Awww!' I saw it on set but it's just completely different in real life."
Does that carry over to real life? When you go down escalators now do you get freaked out?
Haley Webb: "Do I get stuck? Yes. It's really weird. I go through car washes in my sunroof. A little bit. It makes you more aware of things around you that seem safe but may not be."
