Mila Kunis and Jason Bateman - Extract
Working with Mike Judge, tell me about him.
Jason Bateman: "I would love for him to write and direct everything I do for the rest of my life. The guy is incredibly talented with the pen and with the directing. He doesn't over-direct you. It was absolutely effortless."
Same for you?
Mila Kunis: "Yes. I've got to say working with Mike was, it's great because he trusts the people that he hires. And when you feel like you're trusted, you feel like you're in a safety net and you could do things and it's okay if they don't always work. And, you know, working with him...the whole experience was great."
Did you learn actual assembly line work?
Mila Kunis: "My character's not supposed to be good at her job, so I didn't have to. I failed."
You run this assembly line, so you have to know all this. Did you go out to factories?
Jason Bateman: "No, no. I'm the boss; I don't get the hands dirty."
Mila Kunis: "Yeah, he didn't do manual labor - I did. I threw boxes on a conveyor belt for what purpose I don't know."
Jason Bateman: "I write the checks."
Why is it an extract factory? What does the fact it's an extract factory have to do with anything?
Jason Bateman: "Well, my character owns and runs an extract factory and in this factory is where some relationship problems happen. It's just an environment, that's all."
Mila Kunis: "It's a character though."
So extract doesn't really mean anything?
Jason Bateman: "It's not a cooking movie. Don't worry about that."
Mila Kunis: "It's a movie about how to make vanilla extract cake. It's a how-to video. You didn't know that?"
Comic Con experience, how's it been so far?
Jason Bateman: "It's been great. I hope to be invited for years and years and years to come."
Did you want to dress up?
Jason Bateman: "A million jokes... No, I didn't. No desire, but I got some great ideas for this coming Halloween."
Would you dress up and come here?
Mila Kunis: "Sure."
Jason Bateman: "You want to pan down and see the ridiculous crap she's wearing today?"
She looks beautiful.
Jason Bateman: "She does. You're adorable."
Mila Kunis: "Stop it!"
