Alex Meraz - 'Paul' in The Twilight Saga: Eclipse
How bummed were you that you don't actually get to do the action scenes?Alex Meraz: "I was pretty bummed but they explained it in a good one-liner, which when I heard the one-liner I thought, 'Okay, I guess I get it.' No, it's part of the books. You know, we're vulnerable in our human state so we have to be in wolf form the whole time. So because of that, I think the fans would get really upset if we deviated. But, hey, it's truthful to the book which is great, but I did massage the computer generator, the artist who makes me do all the stuff in wolf form, I gave him a good back rub and he made my wolf do extra cool stuff."
Did he?
Alex Meraz: [Shakes his head yes]
So you've learned what to do on the next one.
Alex Meraz: "That's right. It'll be more of a foot massage the next time."
And what was this magical thing your wolf got to do?
Alex Meraz: "I got to, I call it a bitchslap but I guess it's a pawslap to one of the vampires, which is pretty great. He just made me do cool stuff. I was trying to get him to go in and maybe lick my crotch, but he thought it was too much. He's like, 'It's going for R - this is PG.' He's good, he's good."
You have a martial arts background so your wolf should have a little technique, right?
Alex Meraz: "Yeah. Like a wolf chop or something, you know? He does some pretty cool stuff in it anyways. He doesn't just roll over and play dead. He's pretty fierce."
Are you ready for Breaking Dawn?
Alex Meraz: "Yeah. I mean, I'm not even ready for tonight."
How could you be ready for tonight?
Alex Meraz: "It's pretty crazy so I'm just taking each film and each event one at a time. But I'm definitely excited to be a part of the next one. And I think it needs to be split up into two films because the book is so massive. There's so much going on. But I think it's really cool that I'm still a part of it. We get to keep this thing going for a little bit longer."
Should it be rated R?
Alex Meraz: "Should it be rated R? I don't know. I would love it to be rated R, then I could maybe throw a couple F-bombs in there."
Because wolves cuss all the time.
Alex Meraz: "Because they do."
Have you seen the film?
Alex Meraz: "I did. I saw it last week with some of the cast members."
So for people who are getting ready to go see it, how does this one differ from the first two?
Alex Meraz: "You know what? It's a lot of the fans' favorite book so with that I think all the cast members, we all agree that this is the best film of the three. So with that being said, I think it has a lot to live up to and it really does. There's so much going on. It's not just about the love story. The wolf pack, we have to join forces with the vampire family to fight this new threat, so there's a lot more tension. It's a faster pace, more visceral experience and the fans are going to love it."
What was David Slade like to work with as a director?
Alex Meraz: "David was great. He's very much an artist. He walks around with a camera and he's taking photos of everyone. I would always joke around because he's British: 'Are these for your memoirs?' He was just a really cool guy, sharp, ready to work, and I appreciated that intensity."
Tinsel Korey - 'Emily' in The Twilight Saga: Eclipse
Julia Jones was telling me that on the set you all really bonded, but off the set it's just exactly the same. Is it?Tinsel Korey: "Absolutely. I went out for breakfast like a week ago with her, and we talk. I mean, we're all going through this experience together so we lean on each other to be like..."
How do they make it easier for you, because this has got to something that no one else really experiences?
Tinsel Korey: "You know what? We're like family, right, so we just lean on each other and we just make each other feel like home. I think that's the main thing."
Tell me about working on this with David Slade, because he has a different vision than the previous directors.
Tinsel Korey: "I mean he's a lot more technical. Chris Weitz is sort of like a buddy/buddy. And David Slade is a little bit like lean back. He's still funny, you know, in his own sort of odd sense of humor, but he's very, very different."
Do you think this one is going to wow the fans even more so than the previous two films?
Tinsel Korey: "I mean I heard that this is the best movie out of all of them. You think so? I haven't seen it. You saw it - I didn't see it. I think it's going to be the best."
