Jason Segel - The Voice of 'Vector' in Despicable Me

Hi Jason, how are you doing?

Jason Segel: "I'm great - how are you?"

I'm pretty good.

Jason Segel: "This is About.com."

Yeah.

Jason Segel: "It's my favorite website."

You always get interviewed by us, and you're always great. And we love you, too.

Jason Segel: "Thank you."

But now you're playing a bad guy?

Jason Segel: "Yeah, I think me and villainy have been on a collision course for a while. So this movie gave me the opportunity to be my true self."

Why have you and villainy been on a collision course?

Jason Segel: "I don't really care about anyone but myself, and my character is very much the same way so that's what was exciting."

So did you totally ad-lib on this because you felt personally attached?

Jason Segel: "It was basically an open microphone. No, seriously. We'd go in for about three hours a day every few months and then it was like Christmas Day when I saw the film. I was given this present of having worked with the most talented people I ever met."

But you never got to record with anyone else?

Jason Segel: "I didn't, no. It sucks for them."

Is this really your first animated film that you've done a voice for?

Jason Segel: "Professionally."

Okay, that stumped me. What did you do not professionally?

Jason Segel: "I can't really talk about it. But yes, this is my first big budget animated film so it's very exciting to be here."

And the Muppet movie?

Jason Segel: "Start shooting in September. I think we'll come out next Christmas so get ready."

Tons of cameos? Tons of old-school Muppet stuff?

Jason Segel: "The Muppets are back."
