David Wenham - Voice of 'Digger' in Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole

So talk about voicing this owl and how you got into this character.

David Wenham: "For me it was pretty easy, actually. I was sent the script, I read it, and then when I went in, the first time I went into the studio they showed me little images of what my character looked like. And as soon as I saw the images of that character I, without even thinking, started to play around with the voice. I clicked into it pretty much immediately."

And you got to reunite with Zack Synder so that must have been nice too, right?

David Wenham: "Yeah, yeah. That was cool. I like Zack. He's a pretty special filmmaker."

How was he directing an animated film?

David Wenham: "He's amazing. Zack's directions are quite incredible, actually. He's extremely specific with notes. He has a very clear idea of what he wants to do, and he's very adept at getting exactly the performance he wants. A lot of the time actually we weren't in the same country so he would direct via Skype. I'd watch him on the computer."

What's the appeal of Legend of the Guardians?

David Wenham: "I'd say it would be a kids' film, actually. I think without a doubt adults will love it as well. The movie comes from a very successful group of children's books, so I'd describe it as a children's film."

Are you going to be involved Xerxes [the follow-up to 300]?

David Wenham: "That's a Zack question."

Do you want to do it?

David Wenham: "Sure, but you'll have to ask Zack that one."

Sam Neill - Voice of 'Allomere' in Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole

What's the appeal of doing an animated owl movie?

Sam Neill: "Well, you don't have to put make up on in the morning. You don't have to dress up. You don't have to put on your feathers; they put the feathers on for you. And you just get to fantasize and go a big trip and take a big adventure and still go home at night."

Can you explain who your owl is? Sam Neill: "He's a big, bad pompous bad-ass owl who wants to rule the world, you know?"

Is that a fun owl to play?

Sam Neill: "Those are the best kind of owls. [David Wenham] plays a cute, sort of...kind of a cute owl. Who wants to be cute?"

Working with Zack - what was that like?

Sam Neill: "Oh, I love Zack. He's great."

But he wasn't even necessarily in the same country as everybody when they were recording.

Sam Neill: "I know Zack by Skype. We have a very, very close Skype relationship."

Are you a fan of 3-D?

Sam Neill: "I really need a seatbelt when I'm watching 3-D. It gets pretty real."

Would you describe this as a kids' movie?

Sam Neill: "Oh no, I think it's much more than a kids movie. And I suspect it probably works really well for big kids, and I'm a big kid so it's going to work for me."
